Both follow male protagonists who wish to protect and aid the female protagonist from their own demise. The female characters are cursed in a way. In Magico, the curse is related to a powerful and dormant power; whereas in Blood Lad, the curse is related to a lost connection from the human living world.
Both are guys trying to save a girl that happens to be endangered by their own existences, one's ghost the other is an age old evil power hidden within her core.

Two stories where the young male lead becomes something people fear, a good deal of the reason being because they wish to protect someone important to hem.

They are light shounen that could be much more darker, they have a similar artwork and the ending is the same.

In regards to the plot, these two are completely different; in Gwisin Byeolgok the protagonist's companion(who is a demon) is after her yin energy but in Magico they're magicians trying to get rid of her power.
However, they share some alike aspects like the fact that the main protgonists are female and quite naive/dim also they have a male partner/ love intrest that is protecting them and falling in love with the protagonist more and more thoughout their journey.
In addition the protagonist has some kind of dangerous, priceless power and they encounter enemies after that power and make many allies/friends(as do many quest themed manga/anime) in both.
It's a really good manga and if you are either seriously nice or in love with this manga -like me- you can buy the manga instead of online manga library sites (I'm not calling any names!) and support the mangaka!!
- enjoy

Both main characters moved to a city/land. In MxM, merleawe was captured and kidnapped and was taken to the palace and was asked to impersonate the master wizard so that war would not broke. in the end of the story, she officially became the master wizard. In Magico, Emma holds the most powerful dark magic. Don't know why but i always think that they're kinda similar...

They don't have similar stories at all. It's just that, when i was reading magico, the man character, shion, reminded me so much of shin that it was hilarious.. XD The two do have their differences though- shion's not suicidal, shin's not... shy with the girl he likes...? (not that he likes anyone- i don't think...) you'll get shion's shy thing if you read magico... it sounds different than it really is.
Anyway, it's just that when it comes to their general attitudes, shin and shion really resemble one another somehow. XD

The main characters remind me of each other a lot, both being willing to do anything for their friends.
The stories are both interesting but fairly easy to understand, and full of magic and trials the characters must go through (magico- the rituals and magi- the labyrinths)
Both are really good stories!
