Synopsis

The Iga clan and the Kouga clan have been sworn enemies for more than four hundred years. Only the Hanzo Hattori truce has kept the two families from all-out war. Now, under the order of Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa, the truce has finally been dissolved. Ten ninja from each clan must fight to the death in order to determine who will be the next Tokugawa Shogun. The surviving clan will rule for the next thousand years.

But not all the clan members are in agreement. Oboro of the Iga clan and Gennosuke of the Kouga clan have fallen deeply in love. Now these star-crossed lovers have been pitted against each other. Can their romance conquer a centuries-old rivalry? Or is their love destined to end in death?(Source: Del Rey)

Basilisk is definately for older readers, and it takes a certian level of maturity to read this graphic novel and love the artistic views, yes even the nude artistic views. Loved the story line, definately worth a re-read.

With beautiful artwork and a beautiful story Basilisk is a one-of-a-kind Graphic Novel.

The battle between two clans, which are sworn enemy's for over 400 years makes the story intense. Every character is special in his own, because of his/her ninja technique or his/her appearance.
But it's not only a story about ancient old rivalry, this story also shows how beautiful, and painful, love can be.

It's not only a great Graphic Novel to look at, it's also a Graphic Novel that you can read anytime. It won't get bored.

(10 - MASTERPIECE) (*my opinion*)

REAL NINJAS kill people and do stealth.

...okay, no! Definately not an insult. NARUTO actually inspired me to look for Basilisk, when I wanted to look for an impressive "historical drama" work centered around ninja. Basilisk is more for mature readers. The ninja here also have interesting inborn abilities.
