SynopsisTaisuke Kanou is your average 16-year-old student. He has two close friends, Hirose and Megumi. Hirose has trouble with bullies, but Taisuke is always their to defend him, even though he just winds up getting beaten instead of Hirose. During class one day, Taisuke is hit by something unworldly and for that split second, he sees a vision of the universe. As he's walking home from school, he sees a girl fall and die if front of him, but his first thought is jealousy. He later finds out that the strange sensation that hit him is spreading throughout Japan. Those who are struck by it either commit suicide or "evolve," but the comrades have evolve usually have dark intentions for the rest of the world. (Source:ANN) |

It may seem like I hand out 10's like crazy, but I don't. The only entries I do are of the absolute best manga. This is one of those. This has a main character, but it doesn't focus solely on that character. Each of the characters, main or not, has either a side story that fits in with the plot, or whenever the main character Taisuke is doing something that somehow relates to what another characters doing, the focus shifts. This allows each of the characters to have their own separate personality, without allowing the reader to be able to predict what they will do. The art has some bad moments, but the still scenes are so fantastic you forget about those. The story is exceptional, and even though it falls a little after *spoiler* Hirose gets the heart, *spoiler end* the rest is still very much worth reading.

The main protagonists are both thought of as lesser than those around them, both have seen death, both are being searched for by those with power, both have roles they will have to fulfill in the future that they are currently unaware of, both are kids, both are fighting things that are no longer human, both have a darker side, both have powers of a sort, and both have people helping them for unknown reasons.

Mysterious disease spreads around the world. Those who are infected develop supernatural powers and an urge to kill. However, one person uses his power to protect mankind.
