This was the first yaoi from DMP that I ever read. Hell, I didnt even know what yaoi was when I was reading it.
STORY
It is said that people who die with great regrets become ghosts. Mamoru Takayama's great regret is that he never acted on his feelings towards his stand-offish classmate Mizuno. Now Mamoru's ghost is living with Mizuno until he can get Mizuno to let Mamoru kiss him, but Mizuno is just as stand-offish as ever.
I've read stories where a girl ghost invades a males house and they fall for each other, but never something like this. I found this story to very
original and very entertaining. Mamo is so funny, that its seems more comical than anything. But then, you have Mizu's emo status and elusiveness, that it adds a TON drama.
ART
Tomo Maeda is one of my favorite artists, he also drew Black Sun;Silver Moon. He has such a wonderful style and it really shows in Beyond my Touch, with movement and structure. My favorite is Mamo's expressions. They were so clean and great, no matter what crazy face he made!
CHARACTER
The wonderful thing about this manga, is the dramatic changes Mizu goes through. Tomo did a great job at showing each and every emotional change and how much pain the poor kid is put through. Even Mamo's development was great!!
ENJOYMENT
This was the manga that got me addicted to yaoi for a long while. Its also one of the first manga I read. I read this around....4 years ago. I haven't been able to find it in stores to buy, I would totally love to have this on my shelf. I loved it a lot, the plot kept me wanting more, even though it ended in a place, where if you added more to it, it would ruin it. Even the two bonus stories where great!
I RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE!
Even if you don't like yaoi, give this one a change. The definition for YAOI stops here, and gives you a totally different view on it.
I promise! read more
