People like manga for various different reasons. Some people like them for the intense action, others for the overwhelming drama. I like this one for being a simple light-hearted slice of life.

The story is simple. Like many other 4-koma manga, it lacks a clear plot. However, I think it doesn't need one, as the cute and light-hearted jokes compensate enough for it. The concept of communication through paper airplanes was also very cute, which added helped into giving a nice feeling to me whenever I read it. This manga never tried to build up a story. It just brings forth new light-hearted jokes, which each ... of them making me chuckle. Don't start reading excepting to laugh hard. The story may be described as somewhat lacking, but the rest of the manga make up for it.

I love Matcha Haruki's art. She has a completely unique style that I think helps with showcasing the every feature of her manga, may it be story or characters. If I could describe her art style in one word, it would be "cute". Despite it being slightly simple, it is enough to bring out each of the characters' emotions close to my heart. Every panel has enough detail put into them, including backgrounds and characters. Overall, the art helps with expressing the story, and adds a nice atmosphere when reading, with a completely unique art style.

I really enjoyed the characters of Kimi to Kamihikooki to. Although some people argue that the characters are bland and inconsistent, it doesn't really matter when they are as cute as they are. They are not that impressive as characters if they were alone on a page, but when talking about their interactions, that is a whole other story. As you might expect, all of their interactions are light-hearted and cute, and give a warm feeling to me when I see them all together. Characters don't need to have complicated personalities in this kind of setting, they just have to match with the story, be somewhat realistic, and manage to create a warm atmosphere when ever I see them.

In case you didn't know already through all my praise of it, I really enjoyed reading this manga. I simply love everything about it, from the art to story to the characters. Although the story was somewhat lacking, I enjoyed every moment I spent reading it, and is something I would definitely re-read.

Overall, Kimi to Kamihikooki to. is a nice, cute, heart-warming, and light-hearted manga that would definitely make you smile.

Kimi to Kami Hikouki to, is a 4-koma by Hazuki, Maccha. A cute, simple, and light-hearted story about two childhood friends, and some paper airplanes.

Like most other 4-komas, this story follows the typical 4-cell format. It’s full of light-hearted jokes, and has a simplistic storyline. Kei, our protagonist of the story, finds himself at odds with himself, as he tries to grasp what his feelings for his childhood friend (the heroine) Rin are. During the story we meet Rin, a shy girl who communicates with the majority of people with paper airplanes. The paper airplanes are a symbolic bond that she shares with Kei, and ... also serve as a sense of stability for Rin. The only main issue here is that the story itself is too short, or like many other 4-komas, lacks any actual character development or concrete plot.

The art for this 4-koma is nice and simplistic. The simplicity of the art adds to the overall cute and light atmosphere that Hazuka is trying to create with her story. The characters all have a nice amount of detail and standout well from each other. The cell panels are usually full of great details in the background of the panels, or on the expressions of the characters themselves, adding for a nice touch to the story.

A story with moments to make you giggle or have a nice sense of warmth. Kimi to Kami Hikouki to, is definitely a nice short-read for a rainy or gloomy day.

The story is ridiculously slow for the length of the manga, the ending is not conclusive, and any conflict seems forced and childish. The concept of paper planes as a means of communication is interesting, but barely explored, and instead used more as a moe device. This series should either go down the path of being a bit more dramatic and longer or kill off the melodrama and commit to just cute kids doing cute things.

Art: 7
Average for this kind of story. Pretty cute, but also somewhat inconsistent. Everything is just ... a little too small. The characters are distinct, but their emotions don't get across well. The art is too focused on trying to be cute at times.

Character: 5
Bland. The supporting male constantly feels like someone who's supposed to be evil but forced by the author to be good; his looks, words, and actions don't match.
The MC is an absolute wuss who can't even think for himself, let alone be decisive. Practically every conflict that arises had to be drilled into him by another character. Doesn't deserve the main heroine.
The main heroine isn't that much better. Very stereotypical troubled cute/moe girl who's as fragile as a snowflake. No initiative.
The supporting female character feels like someone with split-personality. Introduced as one type of character and then suddenly becoming another by way of "the past."
Literally every character in this series is more meant to be a tool for cutesy heartstring tugging than anything meaningful.

Enjoyment: 6
I finished it. That's about as good as a 5. +1 for being somewhat cute and fulfilling that objective. Other than that, there are series with similar length that manages to do much more.

Meh. Wouldn't re-read.
