When I first read the summary of this manga it didn't appeal to me at all, but when I actually read the manga, it sucked me in. It's a crazy tale about kids stuck in a corrupted world where they face discrimination, deadly drugs, gang war, and so much more. It's absolutely mind boggling how dark this manga is yet it's so revitalizing. The struggles the characters go through, and the values and outlook on life the characters in this book have are incredible.
Though the summary did say that Fire Candy is about kids who are "halves" I didn't feel any thing different about them at all. They seemed like normal kids (past all the dark stuff they do) to me despite how different their genetic coding was. They lived hard lives because of how they were born, and this book shows readers all the hardships and dirt they had to go through. It's twisted, deep, dark, crazy, and I absolutely love it.
The art is completely unique to me. The cover (profile picture) was alright to me, but when you actually look inside the book you can tell how truly wonderful the art is. The characters are all good-looking, some parts of manga look truly realistic, and overall, it's simply a delight to look at.
The characters are all special and wonderful. You can tell how dark their lives have been and it seriously makes me depressed on all the things they had to face throughout their life. Yet despite all that, they seem like happy children. Warped but happy. The manga shows all of them in a teenage gang. They all look happy to just live and fight together with their friends and it's just awesome to see them enjoying life and shoving the unwanted discrimination up all those anal attentive people.
Mostly the manga is set in the teenage gang life. They show a little childhood but mainly the story and plot consists of this special teenage gang fighting with other gangs, and stuff like that.
I loved the manga and I hope people enjoy it too!

I read the first chapter and was immediately hooked up by the characters. As it progress the story too was getting better and better. Up to chapter 8 I couldn't stop myself from continue reading this masterpiece till the end.
Fire candy is some kind of drug that is used by kids in the future. Some of these kids were abandon because they were 'half' being; human that was produce by genetically combining the human and animal together. These kids started to form rollerblade teams and will challenge each other just for the fun of it. The challenge will include all sorts of fighting between the two team members. As half, they usually 'snap' and lose control and their instinct to fight becomes animalistic. They used the fire candy as some sort of escape route from their every day life troubles. As their source of fire candy getting scarce, these kids, lead by one maniac leader named Ryoki decided to challenge the man responsible the fire candy contribution. Hardship and the lost of lives ensued.
It really goes to show that drug is definitely source of misery.
The story gripped me hard. It was intense. I effing love it.
Now if only they could finished it... read more

minus the extreme ecchiness and the fact that fire candy has a lot more adult scenes if you like one your most likely gonna like the other.
Fire Candy and Air Gear revolve around one thing, motor powered inline skate teams. The strong leadership style of Ryoki matches that of Ikki. Fire Candy while not as long as Air Gear does have some of the eroticism that Oh! Great brings.
Both series have a mature and somewhat adultish or dark feeling surrounding it.
Despite the mature-ness, the story revolves around young teenagers, who are influenced in bad things and are gang delinquents.
Both series have funny and similar characters which makes the story enjoyable to read.
Both series also involve high-tech roller blading which makes the action simply epic.
