Synopsis

Fourteen-year-old Shichiri Tasuke is your ordinary junior high school student—well, sort of. His life is a little lonely since his family has left him alone at home while they go travel the world over, only occasionally sending letters and postcards.

This lonely and uneventful life is shaken up the day Tasuke receives the magical Shitenrin ring from his father in China. From out of this ring appears Shao Lin, the Guardian Angel Getten. She proclaims that she is here to protect her new master from all forms of danger and will stay by his side forever.

But having been locked in the Shitenrin for hundreds of years, Shao knows nothing on the modern world. Sometimes it seems she causes MORE problems than she solves. Now, Tasuke must learn how to handle this beautiful, naive and magical angel.

Background

Mamotte Shugogetten! was first published in English as Guardian Angel Getten by Gutsoon! Tokyopop later picked up the license, and published the entire series in five volumes from April 8, 2008 to June 30, 2009, this time under its original title.

All of the side characters only exist to create obstacles and trials for the protagonist that always lead him reinstating his position as a 'nice guy', staying stylishly at arm's length from his oblivious-of-it-all supernatural girlfriend.

Only reason one would try getting into Mamotte is obviously the main heroine, Shaorin/Shaolin (henceforth Shao) herself. As a 4000-year old powerful spirit, she's by far ...
