I'm surprised no one's recommended Fullmetal Alchemist yet. Magi and FMA are similar in that they both started out quite light-hearted and may fool you into thinking they're all about action and adventure. However, they're actually much deeper than that. There is great focus on the politics, the different sides scheming against each other. Character development is also given much thought in both series, and despite the big casts, both series manage to make most of them likable.

It begins as an epic adventure with friends travelling, from island to island, from dungeon to dungeon, but soon it becomes a bigger issue that involve world domination, civil wars and abuse against the weak.

Hunter x Hunter and Magi are similar in ways in which the main male protagonists has a set goal in mind. With that goal, they strive to accomplish it with any means and along the way encounter various obstacles - some that puts their lives at risk while others tests their abilities to their max potentials. As with any fantasy setting goes, expect an adventure and fighting. There are are also various arcs for both manga involving many of the characters with twists and revelations. There is also decent comedy present in both series mainly composing of the interactions between the main characters. (bro-like moments). Nonetheless, these  read more

It's mainly similar because of their near eastern settings, with references to "One Thousand and One Nights". And they are both shounen, adventure, fantasy, with some action.

Both have: - Endless adventure based on the nakama powah and fights plus power upgrades. - A group of friends with powers with similar personalities (Ali/Natsu= energetic guy plus comic relief that gets fired up when its needed; Alladin/Wendy plus Lucy=A blue haired kid that seems weak but its not and its main goal is to make friends/ and is capable of summoning a helper(Genie/key spirit); Morgiana/Erza= serious and strong, fights like hell and has a tragic past related to slavery and bullying; Sinbad/Gray: Likes to strip a lot; Kougyoku/Juvia: has a crush on the guy that likes to strip and has the power of water, also  read more

Taking place in a fantasy world, Magi and Nanatsu no Taizai builds on their story with its colorful cast of characters. The main male protagonist from both series has similar personalities and often takes risks to help their friends. Other characters' roles becomes connected in a story that is dominated by conflicts revolving around their world. There is a good deal of shounen style battles in both series along with an unique arsenal of weapons that are adapted. As a series about adventure, I recommend anyone to check out both series to enjoy what the thrills it has to offer.

Weekly Shounen Sunday fantasy action mangas with a weak minded main character but with something important to do that will change him. In both, battle are based on magical weapons (usually short swords) that bring power from an element or kind of magic. Several deaths, drama, and tints of comedy in the mix.

Both mains are blessed with the power of magic. Although they are still quite young, they both show great maturity for their age and are willing to risk anything for the sake of their friends. They both are in constant pursuit of a similar goal. Negi trains to become a Magister Magi like his father, while Aladdin battles to keep the world on the proper path and fights to become the king of all Magi. Both are a fantasy world with plenty of comedy, action, and adventure. The only difference is Mahou Sensei Negima is a harem, while Magi is not.

Arslan Senki and Magi has an adventurous feeling. Diving a journey into both series will land you with fantasy elements and military conflicts. There area also political issues dealing with the characters and their ideologies. There is decent action present and dynamics explored about their world settings. Magi has more comedy while Arslan Senki retains more violence. Yet, both series focuses on their premise well and presents it accurately to its audience.

Magi and Vinland Saga explores an epic adventure with great storytelling. Both series has war themes that has influenced many characters' past, present, and future. The main male protagonist from both series has a troubling past but hopes to build a better future for themselves. From the start of the present story, they travel and becomes involved in dangerous circumstances. However, they also meet others along the way that they befriend and learn more about the world around them. As such, expect a lot of world building as well as characterization. Both series also has themes of revenge.

Both adventure series that involves some action and magic, that entwines with a bigger plot. Magi is set in a fictional world where magic and and mythical things exists. The protagonists travel to different countries and get involved in the country's political affairs. It also features smaller quests to complete "dungeons". Tsubasa follows a group who travel throughs different dimensions to search for the "feathers" or fragments of a Princess' soul. Each world has it's own rules and "science" in which the protagonists must learn to adapt in.

Obviously I would recommend Sinbad No Bouken to anyone who has read magi because they take place in the same universe. It's a side story where you actually don't have to read Magi first to understand. It has the same adventure feel and I can guarantee if you liked Magi you will like Sinbad No Bouken maybe even more since some people do say they liked the story more in this one. If you have read Magi but never heard of Sinbad No Bouken I'm surprised, it follows one of the side characters from magi, Sinbad. A story about how he formed his own country.  read more

The Kouga Arc in Magi remindes me of Otoyomegatari, since they are both from mongolic, turkic tribes. Even if in the world of Otoyomegatari magic doesn't exist, the remote middle eastern nomadic villages have a magic of their own, the mysteries of a distant culture, untouched by the 19th centuary power struggles. They have similar types of characters, both have strong female leads (Morgiana in Magi, Amira in Otoyomegatari) and also young boys that are more mature than their age as main characters (Alladin in Magi and Karluk in Otoyomegatari ). Otoyomegatari is more faithful to history, while Magi alters legends and mythologies to fit  read more

The main characters remind me of each other a lot, both being willing to do anything for their friends. The stories are both interesting but fairly easy to understand, and full of magic and trials the characters must go through (magico- the rituals and magi- the labyrinths) Both are really good stories!

Both have magnificent fantasy worlds. The main characters resemble each other so well! They can form bonds with important people quite casually. The society is messed up in sense of slavery or public contempt, in which the MC is caught somehow. They strive towards several goals, but their presence and personality makes people close to them open up themselves.

Kouryakubon seems to be heavily inspired by Magi not only in terms of story but also in regards to art. After the starting arc, there are middle Eastern themes all over the story with the main character being a very strong sorcerer on similar levels of a Magi. The main differences though would be that this is also a spin-off of the typical fantasy trope of "defeat the demon lord" where the MC is kicked from the hero party but succeeds on his own nonetheless. The two themes together make the story semi-interesting.

The spirits are somewhat similar: Qi in Hisakata no Oto and Rukh in Magi. The beauty and magical aspect are shown well and done justice. <> Magi: Rukh is invisible to normal people, except when it's super thick, Hisakata no Oto: Qi and Musubi are visible to other people, but they can't be touched except by the MC

Although Shuumatsu no Walkure's plot is quite different from Magi, the vibes are quite similar. I'd say the artstyles are similar and the setting is both focused on mythological beings. Shuumatsu no Walkure focuses on a tournament style storyline whereas Magi is more of an adventure. Even so, both have a similar general plot, man vs the divine.

Both feature children exploring hostile environnements Children of both works are trying to uncover the truth about their world and to understand how their present is tied to ancient legends and civilisations

Both have relying magic as their main source of power in various aspects. In Magi, magic has been used in the daily lives of the people, such as occupation and battle. Meanwhile in Black clover, those who can't use magic is considered failed as a person. Both mangas also tells us about the greatness of adventure in the world of magic, finding an unexplored dungeon which full of treasures, and the beauty of friendship in the two of main character in each manga (Aladdin and Alibaba in Magi, Aster and Yuno in Black Clover). Very recommended for those who looking for epicness of shounen manga!

Both have magic powers with lots of comedy moments and quirky characters. There’s also a school arc in magi later on which makes them even more similar.

- Action, fantasy genre - While Akame ga Kill is much more gory than Magi, both have a lot of blood - Both deal with the problems of society - The metal and household vessels in Magi are similar to the Teigu in Akame ga Kill - Both have very good supporting characters with a lot of attention given to them

Magi and solo leveling are similar in the fact that: - Dungeons - Magic - OP mcs - Magic beast in solo leveling and djinns in magi (which are kinda like magic beasts)

Magi and Kingdom has its roots with action and characterization. The main male protagonist goes far to prove himself and to accomplish his goals. Throughout both series, we see their potentials as they take on powerful adversaries. Both series are known for their war story elements and atmospheric world building. There is also a great amount of character relationship dynamics especially with the main prominent cast. Themes of revenge and power are also explored as we venture into their world.

Two young boys and one girl as the main character, a headless creature, a psycho villain, super human strength. Even though the story and time line are different, both has the sense of humor and slight twist in its plot. By the way, Kida and Alibaba looks similar, so do Anri and Morgiana.

Not going to lie, I connected D.Gray-man with Magi-Labyrinth of Magic many time. Why? Well I'll get more in depth with that later. D.Gray-man is about a guy name Allen Walker and how he joins an organization that destroys beings known as Akuma. Allen like most protagonist, possesses something that makes him extraordinary than the others. Magi-Labyrinth of Magic is about a boy name Aladdin who goes on an adventure to explore the world. As he explores the world, he meets many new people and discover something that he never knew about himself. In these two fantastic manga, both Allen and Aladdin go on an unforgettable adventure.  read more

They both are inspired from mythology, Saint Seiya is inspired from greek and roman mythology and Magi is inspired from mostly arabic mythology (but also various other folklores and cultures). In both mangas, the balance of power in the world depends on the "magical equipment". In Saint Seiya human counterparts of the constellations, fight while wearing the sacred armors named "Cloths", who give them superhuman powers. In Magi, the humans who conquered a djinn's dungeon, are given magical weapons called "metal vessels", which are fueled by the person's "magoi", a type of energy similar to ki, specific only in this world, because of the existence of  read more

Both of the manga have a similar sort of mood. Easy going, lots of comedy (not too exaggerated), superpowers, and lots of action. But Magi is a lot deeper. :]

Both about magic in a fantasy world but with a heavy resemblance to medieval Europe and Middle-Eastern. The names of the countries, the cultures even some of the battles are inspired in real history.

Both revolve around the lore of Aladdin and include extremely random humor throughout the series.

Both have young magic users ( Magi, Shaman) that can summon humanoid magical beings ( djinns, spirits).

Toriko and Magi follows the style of an adventure themed series. Both main male protagonist are eager to explore and conquer/search/hunt important things in their lives. And because both series takes place in a fantasy world, expect otherwordly events that defies the law of nature. Both series has character relationships that develops over time whether it'd be apprenticeship, friendship, or rivalries. There is a great deal of action from both series and world building in Magi as well to fully take advantage of their potentials.

This is a story about defying the flow of destiny and the journey of multiple superb characters. The story is so very a like I can draw dozens of parallels, but that would spoiler either manga. Let's say both authors put so much effort into worldbuilding that the whole manga is about unraveling all those secrets.
