SynopsisKatsu Kaizou is a very gullible 17 year old high school student, and a believer in science fiction, aliens, ghosts, UFOs, conspiracies, etc. He thinks that everything going on around him is the result of some sort of alien plot to take over the world. Each story is pretty much self-contained and is completely bizarre. Kaizou joins the school's science club, makes new friends, and ends up coming in contact with all sorts of strange things like log people, deadly sushi, pee-blades, scary infections, robot invasions, ghosts, living dolls, and more!
The one-shot, A Brooding, Gloomy Property, was included in the 13th volume of the series.

Given that they were written by the same mangaka, there are several similarities between these two works. The most prevailing similarity is how the protagonists wear particular lenses that determine their perception of life and everything around them. In Katteni Kaizou, Kaizou believes everything is associated with an alien scheme to take over the world. In Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Itoshiki views everything in a negative manner. Both very funny and random.
Katteni Kaizou is actually Kumeta's past work. though, I'm really certain that Katteni Kaizou is inteded for older audiences.
These series have the same manga-ka. Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei is the later work, and is a major improvement in both comedy and art over Katteini Kaizou. The humor is darker and geared at an older audience. If you enjoyed Katteni Kaizou, you'd probably love Zetsubou Sensei.

They both have similar type of humor, although different setting. Also, in both there are characters with some kind of twisted charisma which makes everything they do hilarious.
