Defense Devil (Manga)

While about very different subjects, these manga are very similar. Both main characters have a strong sense of justice and are very powerful. They both start out with an interesting original setting. In Medaka Box, the student council tackles requests from students in a crazy way. In Defense Devil, a demon banished from the demon world helps save souls unfairly condemned to hell.

They also similarly abandon their plots and take the same path as Bleach. They quickly become a generic shounen fighting manga. If you like either manga after the plot change, then I'm sure you'll like the other manga. If not, the first volume of each is at least worth a read.

Both series have a being trying to help the dead people solving sobrenaural cases.

Both series' deal with a demon coming to the real world to solve various mysteries, murder cases, etc. They utilize their powers to do so, and gathering negative energy in the process to power them up, with occasional battles throughout. The main characters, however, are polar opposites.
