Both feature expressionless composed girl obsessed in studying (and wears braids/pigtails), the difference is that Last Game is Tonari´s version "Shizuku x Yamaken route" since the protagonist of LG greatly resembles Yamaken in personality and looks from Tonari. Also in LG the setting changes to university (later).
When reading these two manga, I couldn't help but notice some of the similarities.
First of all..in both manga series, there is a main female protagonist who is very intelligent in academics. Then, there's the guy at school who meets her and they have an awkward relationship. From that relationship, there is comedy, drama, and a little romance between the duo.
Both manga series takes place at school and is generally lighthearted without too much emotions.
Both manga also has a slice of life feeling where everyday presents a new challenge and way to spent life.
Last Game is kind of like if Shizuku ended up with a cross of Haru and Yamaken.
The characters are very similar, even in how they look. Mikoto and Shizuku both are incredibly smart, and used to coming in first place in school.
Hisato is more similar to Yamaken in that he is rich and used to girls coming after him, and his attitude towards the main girl. He's more similar to Haru in terms of possessiveness and innocence. The guy falls in love with the girl first in both cases.
Tonari really reminds me of Last Game.
First of all the main female protagonists are really alike. Both two tails, both are only thinking about their future and both really get the best scores!
The boys aren't that much alike, but they fall in love with the girls first. And a love story develops.
They are both really cute shoujo's allthough Tonari is really a mix between Beast Master & Last Game. They are all lovely to read!
While reading Tonari no Kaibutsu kun I realised that the female protagonist is the same as Last Game. Their personalities aswell, the fact that they're both focused on studying. Also they're pretty clueless with romance. The storyline is simliar aswell, the male and female protagonist are mutually understanding. The setting aswell, both set in high school. Althought the male Isn't a delinquent like in tonari but it gives the same vibe. Enjoy reading ^^

The main male characters are students that have a naturally scary appearance, but are kind on the inside. Not going to spoil but, as the story progresses, you see the real similarities between the storys. The main heroines are also similar.
School shoujos about a girl who is asked to help a fellow male student. The guy looks scary, and can be violent, but he is very naive and his personality can be very sweet. It's all she can do to keep up with the crazy things he tries to pull! Romantic interest develops between them.
Tonari no Kaibutsukun and Beast Master are similar stories, as the main character literally has to tame someone unfamiliar with society, and in the process they end up falling in love with each other. They both have that feeling of suddenly stumbling in love.
The main guys are very similar. Both look scary, and so they have trouble making friends. They also can get very violent, and are always kind of bewildered by everything. They fall in love with the main girl, who is their first friend and the only one who can calm them down when they get violent.
The guy also really likes animals.
The boys in these two shoujo's are really in common. They are both 'bewilderd', acting very strange in public and both sometimes have anger issues.
The girls aren't that much alike, but the boys fall in love with the girls first. And a love story develops! They are both really cute shoujo's allthough Tonari is really a mix between Beast Master & Last Game. They are all lovely to read!

Serious, studious girl thrown off-balance by wild-type boy. Comedic tone with light romance.
A delinquent guy comes across a hard working girl. They often get in discussions for being so different.
Plots are similar.
Male and Female lead are in the same positions.
Smart female lead.
Misunderstood violent male lead
Well the story is about the same. In a way, in Atashi no Banbi the female protagonist must convince the male protagonist to go to school just like in Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun.
They both have those intelligent, cold, and hardworking female protagonists. Also, those delinquent-like, strong males protagonists. They also both have that cute kind of character though they are both different in many ways.
Overall, when I read Atashi no Banbi I was really surprised at how similar they were. The characters (especially the main characters), the story line, the atmosphere; they all felt the same.
Both have the genres of comedy, romance, school life, and shoujo.
There are some differences but you won't know until you start reading Atashi no Banbi. Also, while Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun is 10 volumes and ongoing, Atashi no Banbi is complete with only 1 volume.

Same characters I mean main and supporting ones too ( like three idiots ) Both mangas have very hard studying girl, bishounen guy, elite guys falling in onesided love with 'study bugs' (:D) , . . .
The characters are basically the same. You have:
-Main girl who is more focused on her school life than her social life (Shizuku = Misaki)
-Main guy who beats the girl in school, is extremely strong and laid back. (Tora = a mix of Hinata and Usui)
-A blonde guy from the rich school who is very popular with women, but he gets bored with them, then he becomes interested in the main girl (Kenj = Tora)
-The main guy's older brother that has a bad relationship with the main guy (Yuuzan = Gerrard)
-The main girl's friend who is very popular with boys but is always rejecting them, and then she falls in love for real and pursues him, even when she is rejected at first. (Asako = Sakura)
-The main girl's family consists of a deadbeat dad, a working mom, and a younger sibling
-The three idiots who always get into fights and love girls, and they all have nicknames (Mabo, Tomio and Joji= Shiroyan, Kurotatsu and Ikkun)
The two manga have a similar feel, and both follow a lot of characters' relationships.
Many similarities, character and scenario wise. Both Misaki and Shizuku focus on their studies and work whole heartedly. They also end up falling in love with someone who manages to beat them in abilities and begin to loosen up. Though Shizuku isn't as strong as Misaki, her way of dealing with problems is similar to Misaki (in a calm, understanding way). Both Usui and Haru end up clinging to the female protagonist, have cute moments, and are pretty laid back.

The plot is a little similar. Sawako in Kimi ni Todoke and Haru in Tonari no Kaibutsukun are both misunderstood by their classmates but not for the same reason.
They're both on-going Slice of life Shoujos, with heart warming romances, adorable friendships and a funny plot lines.

In both series, the main male protagonist is seen as a delinquent and otherwise, a strange person. After meeting the female protagonist, he begins to open up and makes new friends.
In both series, the female protagonist falls for the main male protagonist after getting along with one another.
Both series takes place at a school life setting where there is comedy, drama, romance, and misunderstandings. They have a lighthearted background but occasionally include some emotional moments mainly dealing with the duo and their various circumstances @ school.
Both main guys dont understand high school and how they should communicate with peaple which can be pretty funny. they are both beast like guys. the main girls however arent alike at all.

Mmmm, what i can say?
Bot female characters are similar, only cares about his score of his test and studies
Bot males characters are similar, both are better that the female in terms of study
But then the love and happiness start to flow wething the main characters.
If you like it Kare Kano and you wanna read another shoujo/romance manga, this is a "Good" chooise
A girl who is used to getting first place all the time is extremely surprised when a guy beats her. While both of them have their problems, the guy's past is really dark and he has issues with trusting people. He's also really possessive of the girl.
Kare Kano is MUCH darker than My Little Monster.

Both features a strong, independent and cold heroine paired with a cool guy that loses his cool when triggered into a berserk mode. Development of love story is also similar, where both characters slowly realize the weight of their love over time and interactions.

Fujioka Haruhi is a serious student who gets mixed up into the craziness and interesting world of Suoh Tamaki similarly to the way Mizutani Shizuku gets involved with Yoshida Haru. Both of the female main characters are self-reliant and want to be like their mothers. Also their worlds are expanded because of their contact and involvement with their male counterparts.

|
Both manga gives similar feeling, expressionless protagonist and involve school life romance.
|
|
|
Both manga involve cold-hearted female protagonist. Gives similar feeling and school life romance.
|
|
|
Both featuring a strong female lead excellent in her studies and slowly changes for her love. Although in this story both are students, but the female leads are similar, so if you like Umi you'd love Shizuku from Tonari no Kaibutsukun just as much!
|
|
|
Well mainly both follow the story of a highshcool girl, and a boy that she's falling in love with. Both stories have lots of ups and downs, love triangles and share the same genres:romance, comedy,a little bit of drama...highschool life etc.
But definitely the stories, the circumstances are different.
So if you liked Lovely Complex, you'll love Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun too.
Enjoy reading!

same feeling, expressionless girls have to deal with weird boys
|
|
|
Has the same kind of feeling.

|
|
Shoujo romance manga with similar styles where the female lead is guarded with her feelings and the guys don't quite understand their own.
|
|
|
The main characters are.. similar, I suppose. They're both pretty sophisticated... I don't know. Both manga are pretty cute, though pretty different. Personally, I like Tonari a lot better, haha.

|
main characters are somehow very similar : girls have really same cold personality and there are black haired guys falling in love with them, trying to melt girls icy heart ( well at least they are prodigies in that :DDD )

Similar characters and feeling.
Kiri is a very similar character to Shizuku in that both of them are 'emotionless' but they are really good at what they do.
Yamaken is a very similar character to Narumi in their attitudes towards the main girl. They also wonder why they like the girl in the first place, because she isn't all that cute. The main girl is oblivious to their feelings.
There is also some family drama, and the mother of the main girl is away from home working in both cases.

A girl who is used to getting first in everything is beaten by a guy who falls in love with her. The guy also falls in love with the girl first. They have a similar feel and we get to see the relationships between a bunch of characters.
