Both feature a girl who aspire to go as high as possible, and both are not normal, and have a boy they like by their side.

Haruhi has supernatural powers, and can change the world on her whim.
Medaka changes people with her superhuman abilities.
In short, the 2 of them "can do everything".

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya is a fantastic slice of life anime series just like lucky star. It has some great comedy moments to it, but also a great story line.

They are really similar, as they're both school comedies with a sci-fi twist and almost the same story: a normal guy suddenly meets a weird girl who is a transferred student at his school; he gets involved in paranormal activities; he's forced to join a school club about aliens and other supernatural things.
