Normal girl and monster guy type set up.
Both are about a young girl with special power, which is saved and protected by a very good looking winged demon. And both are a little smut. Though Love Monster is a little more.
they both have a girl with something supernatural about then. and a guy with black wings. and then they fall in love, but they have obstacles to overcome together while falling for each other.

they're both the same in the way that......
..in gakuen alice, students possess diff. kinds of alices and they're not allowed to go outside the school with a strong barrier w/ it, as well as in Love monster students are gathered in a school who are monsters..
[how is this both similar? they're stuck up in one school because they're diffrent from ordinary humans and so why they're gathered up in a school]
Both are amazing series with mystery, comedy, romance, school life and great plot lines. Though neither series sounds too interesting from its descriptions, both are great! Read them, for sure!

May 2, 200865 of ? chapters read 19 of 23 people found this review helpful Okay i'll first start off by saying that in the Shoujo world, this is my all time favourite manga, so yes i'll admit that i may be subconsciously biased.
Story:
I know some people might say that it is similar to rosario+vampire by it being about monsters, but i don't entirely think so. Never in my life would i even think of a 'Crow' being in the hierarchy of monsters, and the story being able to glamorise and change my unfavourable outlook on crows is quite... something, therefore i gave it the highest mark.
The romance plot reminds me of zero no tsukaima, you have a gut feeling that these two main characters will be together (although i've not seen the end) but there's plenty of obstacles to try and keep you wondering such as the harem of guys and girls trying to entice the opposite gender.
Art & Character:
As with my last review, you'll notice that i put art and character under one banner because without one or the other, i believe the tension and emotion created would drop by at least half. I've not read through all of Riko Miyagi's work, but so far i think is one of her best works. The art is great, has detailed background, and the characters are all Kawaii, which keeps you thinking 'perhaps she'd better with so and so instead'.
Hiyo is the gorgeous yet innocent girl, who many people can relate to, while Kurou is the handsome stranger with many secrets. This is more like following the ups and downs of a relationship, but with some comedy scripts, to keep the manga lighthearted. I also particularly enjoyed the mangakas side notes and inserts.
Enjoyment:
I started reading this manga a long while after it was released but one day when i found it i remembered skipping breakfast, lunch and almost saw the sun set before i had to pinch myself to get back into reality, YES it was that addictive i came almost straight back after i had dinner. Throughout the story there is a constant build up of tension and release, which one of the main reasons this series became addictive.
Overall:
This is definatlely not your average Shoujo manga and i applaud the mangaka into taking her time to create a very memorable series that people will be comparing to when deciding what next to read. read more

Jul 12, 200882 of ? chapters read 8 of 12 people found this review helpful Love Monster was a great shoujo manga. If you like the romance type, with funny characters, and a serious plot on the side then you're gonna love this manga. The story revolves around a girl named Hiyo who goes to a school for monsters where you meet Kurou who is one of the leading monsters in the monster society because he is a crow. One of my favorite parts about the manga was learning all about his past with Hiyo and seeing their relationship evolve into something much, much bigger than the t...wo of them.
Later in the series you find out what their destiny and the fates that they're meant to follow and it honestly just kind of melts your heart when you see how much they truly love each other.I would have liked to see a little more character developement from some of the characters especially Hiyo, but I loved all of them just as much with or without it. What can I say? I'm a sucker for love. -_-"
The ending is one of the cheesiest I've seen in a shoujo manga, but you really love it because it fits with the whole story. It's completely cute and adorable so I recommend this series for anyone who just wants to feel all warm and fuzzy inside at the end. ^^ read more
