Satoshi and Satomi are childhood friends who have been trying to outdo each other in everything since they were small. Christmas is coming, and they’ve started a new challenge to see who can get a date for Christmas first! It seems that Satoshi might win the bet, with Natsuki-chan, the Sexy Dynamite of the class making the move and asking him to be her date, but will things be that simple for our plain-looking Satoshi?
Now this was original. A shoujo story told through the guy's POV. I REALLY liked the idea, and loved the story line. Ive read so many stories about rival childhood friends that fall in love, but nothing told through the guy's POV. And it was really cute for a one-shot, and I think if it were to be any longer, the story may have been ruined. I would, however, have liked to see more of their competitions. That would have been funny. But, the story is good as is!
I first saw Mayumi's art in "I Love High School" and LOVED it. Her simple yet cute art really works for stories like this, and her guys are just outwardly adorable! I loved the designs for each character, the backgrounds were simple yet detailed enough to know what they were. The art was more focused on the characters.
I absolutely loved Satoshi, the main character. For once the story wasnt from the eyes of a shy and frivolous girl, but the eyes of a shy guy! Well, he wasnt as shy as you think, he was just cute, Ok? You have Satomi, who you see a few times, but you know everything about her from the way Satoshi described her. I only wish it would have gone more into why they liked each other. Then you have the sex-maniac Natsume, and the pervert (Do they ever say his name? No I dont think so...). And Satoshi and Satomi's crazy friends who bid on them! The characters make this one-shot extremely awesome.
Seeing as this was a one-shot, it didnt take long to read at all, but thats what makes it great. There was just enough to get their feelings across, and set the plot straight. If you like cutesy stories, and fluff, read this! It shows you how cute guys can actually be! GO SATO-CHANS! read more
