SynopsisThe "mysterious school comedy" centers on the unusual members of a high-school literary club. Touko Amano, a high-school senior who calls herself the "literary girl" as the club president, is actually a supernatural creature (youkai) that devours stories — she tears pages from books to munch on them. Her club subordinate is Konoha Inoue, a second-year high-school boy who writes stories every day for Amano to eat. He once wrote an award-winning novel, but he wrote it under the penname Miu Inoue so readers thought the author was a mysterious 14-year-old bishoujo novelist. The stress from the novel's fame and its movie and television drama plans turned Inoue into an introverted recluse.

Bungaku Shoujo to Shi ni Tagari no Douke is probably one of the best mangas I've read in a very very long time. It touches your heart and it's overall, a wonderful thing to read.
Story- 10
At the age of 14, a boy named Inoue Konoha won an award for writing a best-selling book. He is labeled as a "mysterious bishoujo author" and sick of all the praise, he has a breakdown and vows never to write again. That, is until he starts high school. He witnesses a girl, Touko Amano, literally eating up a book. Since nobody else could find out about her secret, he is forced to join the Literary Club, and write small stories for Touko to eat every day. Everything seems to be going fine until Touko puts up a box claiming the literary club could solve their problems, which is how the emotional tale begins.
Art-10
The visual appeal is stunning. In my opinion, if the visual appeal in a manga is good, it helps bring out the emotions in a story. Kousaka Rito, Takeoka Miho definitley do a great job in the illustration of the light novels.
Characters-10
The art, like I said, is very beautiful. The characters are very easilly likeable, many give off an aura where you want to sympathize with them and tell them that everything will be alright. The characters' backstories help you understand the way they behave much better.
Enjoyment- 10
This is a beautiful story, with beautiful art, and beautiful characters. The story is like nothing else I've read before, and makes it almost impossible to stop reading. Considering the high score I've rated it, I hope that you too will find enjoyment in this stunning series. read more

Psychological elements are a common theme in both, specifically the notion of suicide as a means to end one's existence. Dazai Osamu's Ningen Shikkaku is cited frequently throughout Bungaku Shoujo as a means to connect the stories together. Many characters in Bungaku Shoujo are similar to Yozo Oba in that they deal with severe bouts of depression, a sense of failure, and isolation from society.
