SynopsisA bright-spirited young historical scholar, Iba, disappears while on a lone expedition to study the ancient Silk Road. A year later his girlfriend, Kyoko, sets out for the Silk Road in order to find clues that will help to unravel the mystery of Iba's disappearance. When she arrives, she finds the charm she gave Iba for protection and moments later she is sucked into a black vortex and loses consciousness. Kyoko awakes to find herself in a very different place and discovers that that Iba is not only alive but is a warrior-slave under the reign of Genghis Khan in 13th century Mongolia! If your any fan of Kentarou Miura (of Berserk fame) or Buronson (Fist of the North Star) or, like me, both of them. You'll undoubtedly be so utterly excited to read this that you can barely contain yourself. Like me >_>
Putting them together on a story/art collaboration is just a set up to have a manga full of huuuuge muscled manly men beat each other to death. It was. Every male character in this manga is big, well built, and even sometimes a little ugly as real men are.
Since it was so short, you can't expect much complexity from the story, and you won't get much either. But there are a few plot twists that go on near the end that are fairly interesting. If your into history, at least. read more

Both are done by the same authors (Kentarou Miura & Buronson). Both deal with time travel. Although in "King Of Wolves" main characters travel to past while in "Japan" everyone gets sent to future environment in both of them are weary similar because "Japan" is a post apocalypse type of manga.

When considering going on vacation, jumping 100's of years into the past to the times when the Mongolians were invading and conquering all wouldn't be ideal. But that's what happens in these two: the respective leads finding themselves right in the middle of hellish warfare. Naturally, there are romantic subplots and duels to the death with swords... what more could you ask for?
Since King of Wolves was drawn by Berserk's author, wrote by FotNS' author and shares obvious similarities to Threads of Time, it's best described as a blend of the three. (Thankfully, only the FotNS LARGE man thing got added from that. Far more similar to Berserk.) Threads of Time is where it's at if you're looking for a well-developed story with a killer twist, rather than lots of fighting, though.
In King of Wolves you even get to learn the TRUE identity of Genghis Khan. How awesome is that? The info even made watching Kurozuka seem somehow more worthwhile.
