SynopsisThere is a legend that tells of how the world was almost destroyed thousands of years ago by the vampire queen after she unleashed her latent powers. Despite their efforts, the humans were unable to defeat her, and thus resorted to sealing her away until the time came that they would be powerful enough to destroy the seal and kill her. However, the humans are not the only ones after the seal. Having cast aside his kingdom and betraying his own race and the dhampirs (half-vampires), the vampire king is persistantly searching, even to this day, for where his queen has been sealed away so he may break the seal and free her before the humans do. Fearing that once the king and queen are reunited, they shall continue to destroy the world together, the humans and dhampirs hunt the king, using any method possible.

Vampires have lately become a trend in the entertainment industry, obviously including the anime and manga industry. Countless movies/books/series etc have been made about them, and in the name of originality, their creators had to more or less move away from the actual vampire myths. Which is a good thing, because otherwise all of them would pretty much be like Dracula, and that could ruin the whole genre. Nobody likes rip-offs, after all. Therefore, over the past few years we've seen vampires that can walk under the sun, go to human school and live a pretty much normal life.
Now, the reason I'm taking this long introduction is because "Record of Fallen Vampire" features the most rediculus variations of the original myth, namely vampires that don't drink blood to survive. I don't know your opinion, but any creature that doesn't need to drink blood is, at least for me, not a vampire. It might be a drow elf, but that's beyond the point. There is however a single blood-sucking moment towards the end of the story, so I will accept it as it is. Now, to the review.
"Record of Fallen Vampire" has one of the most gripping stories I've ever seen or read. Part of it is because almost everything you thought was true at the beginning of the story will have been dismissed as lies by the time you've reached the middle. You'll be led to believe the myth surrounding the vampire king's name, but you will soon learn that nothing is as it seems... and again... and again... until the final truth, the one even the king himself doesn't know, is revealed. On the journey towards that truth you will discover political intrigue in the human and the vampire world, and you will see mortal enemies joining hands to fight a common foe. The only thing that bothers me with the otherwise great story is that, at some point, there is the introduction of aliens to the plot. Many may find them matching well with the vampires, but I personally find the combination pretty silly. The fact that the aliens themselves - although we never get to actually see how they actually look like - are as cliche as they can get certainly doesn't help.
The main characters are quite deep and are developed pretty well as the story progresses. Particularly Kayuki, Bridget and Strauss are characters to fall in love with. Some of the more minor characters could have been developed a bit more, but you'll hardly notice it.
Art is surelly one of the biggest assets of the manga series. All characters are drawn well, but especially some larger drawings look astonishing.
All in all, "Record of Fallen Vampire" is a trully great manga for all those who love good fantasy, action and romance. I would recommend it as a must-read to all those vampire-fans out there (part of whom I am myself ;) ) although the main story is clearly not of the typical vampire genre. But then again, the manga's backstory clearly is, so you'll probably like it anyway.

vampire juuji kai / record of fallen vampire,
This manga has an extraordinary storyline. if you think of vampires, dhampires, humans AND aliens, it seems too much to be good. but to my surprise, this manga turned out to be really a masterpiece.
The characters have very profound personalities, nothing is just black-white.
The plot releases it's mystery slowly, which gives a very good vibe of curiosity and the urge to continue reading enormous.
I really enjoyed this manga, and I would recommend this as a must to read.

Like Vampire Knight, Record of a Fallen Vampire is about vampires with more human aspects. the main characters are very similar, vampire, vampire hunter ect. and the story line is good.
Vampire Juuji is the shonen version of VK. Similarities:
- One of the protagonists is the most powerful pureblood vampire that ever existed.
- The pureblood wants to unite humanity and vampires through a common enemy: himself.
- The pureblood had a girl/ancestress he loved that died in the past and her "remains" became a weapon against vampires.
- The current girl who chases after him and loves him has a similar name (Kayuki/Yuuki).
- One character obsessed with revenge against purebloods because they were responsible for the death of someone he cared about.
Both are about vampires and have similar storyline. Some characters have something to hide from the others.
its about vampires and some humans. vampire knight and ROTFV are both serious. they both have twisted and unguessable plots.

These two manga are so alike to the point that the story is absolutely amazing.
Record of Fallen Vampire is about a vampire king name Strauss who had abandon and destroy his own kingdom. Code Geass is about a disowned prince name Lelouch vi Britannia who has a deep hatred for his birth empire.
In both manga, it talks about how both main character have to use their mind, strength, and sheer will power to obtain their goal. They both have a lonely role where they are always in the position of losing someone they loved. The role that is known as "The King". Both the main character, Lelouch and Strauss are always thinking, finding, and looking for the best possible outcome that is best for the people around them.
But what I makes these manga so similar to each other are the ending to the two, I really can't explain it because it might be consider as a spoiler. But if you know the ending to these two, they are very alike. So all in all. If you like Code Geass, you would definitely like Record of Fallen Vampire.
Both main characters are smart like had a plan all sort out in the beginning but revealed in the end. Both main characters are being hunted down. They both have a similar ending.
