I had high expectations of this manga as a lot of people recommended it to me as a fun shounen which tries to do things a bit differently than typical manga of this genre. Turns out Ann Cassandra matches this description exactly, alas, with a few things missing here and there.

The story unfolds at a suitable pace as the reader gets acquainted with the main characters and setting in a collection of lively and interesting introduction scenes. The premise seems quite fresh and you get curious as to whats going to happen next.

Both of the main characters are fleshed out and strive to be ... a little different to the average stereotypes. Their interactions are both entertaining and engaging to read through. The art has a sketchy feel to it and the lines are not as defined as I would prefer but it is still easy to get whats going on in the action scenes. Despite the fact that the author admitted he had trouble drawing them :) There are some imaginative angles shown and some elements are drawn in a very stylish way.

Towards the second volume, the pace of the story radically picks up as we are rushed through the narrative and the various prophecies that have to be "broken". The story is prevented from naturally unfolding at its own pace and thus feels somewhat forced. This could be due to pressure from the publisher or the manga being squeezed out of popularity polls. We can only guess.

Overall, Ann Cassandra is a quick and fun read which doesn't try to stick with the usual genre cannons too much. However, the reader is left feeling that it could have been so much better if only it was given enough time and more volumes to develop further.

I thought this manga was pretty awesome. The story of how he is trying to beat the predictions and has Bekku help him and everything they did was sounded great.The real mood of the story and emotion of the story made it something original. This was a great manga and one of my favorites of all time.

The story of Ann Cassandra is actually a very good concept. I haven't read anything too similar to it, so it was refreshing. My only qualm is that the story seemed to be rushed in volume 2. Maybe this was due to the fact that it had to be a specific length or something? But I would rated it high if it hadn't been so rushed.

The art isn't as clean as other works as far as artistry goes, but it it doesn't by any means detract from the actual story. In fact, I believe that with the artistic quality portrayed in the manga adds ... to the story. action scenes, to me at least, have to have a bit of grit to them which you get in Ann Cassandra.

The characters have more definition to them than most of the several chapter-length series I've read. For the length of the story the amount of detail given seems to be adequate.

Pick this manga to read if you want something short with a good plot.
