In one unusual Tokyo high school, education takes a backseat to brawling as warring clubs wreak havoc in the hallways and chaos in the classrooms, all vying to be the baddest team around! Although they often contribute their fair share, only a handful of students serve to stem the tide of violence in this untamed outpost. These are the few, the proud, the powerful: the members of the Juken Club!

Tenjou Tenge was first published in English as Tenjho Tenge by DC Comics under the CMX imprint. The CMX release came under heavy criticism by fans for editing and censoring the sexual content. 18 volumes were released from March 1, 2005 to September 8, 2009 before CMX shut down. VIZ Media republished the series uncut as Tenjo Tenge: Full Contact Edition in 2-in-1 omnibuses under the VIZ Signature imprint from June 21, 2011 to February 5, 2013.

Wanted to give a literal review on the series that speaks to the people hesitant about reading this. If you've looked at this manga hoping for delinquency, fighting and comedy, don't bother. If on the other hand you want action, ecchi and an array of typical shounen sounding moves, this is for you. Unfortunately, I was the former. While the plot was pretty exciting starting off, that being set in school and trying to fight their way to the top to prove they were the strongest, it basically disintegrated into a story of ancient martial arts stuff that basically made me lose a lot of read more

Tenjou Tenge is a series I very much wanted to enjoy but found myself increasingly losing interest as I read on. It has a simple but enticing enough premise to draw in your attention, fantastic art to pleasure your eyes, lots of action (and nudity, if you're in to that) to keep you interested, and likeable characters with strong personalities. However, the series progresses in such a way that it loses what exactly drew people into the story in the first place, and the entire experience suffers as a result.

This review will go into the details of Tenjou Tenge and highlight its strengths and unfortunate read more

Alright. Let me be straightforward and honest here. I have never been much of a shonen/shuojo/seinen/whatever fan. And it is obvious that this here is a shonen. Here's my handy-dandy shonen checklist:

Action plot - check
Cool (and oftentimes cheesy) attack names - check
_Ridiculously_ hot female characters - check (note the emphasis)
Outrageous costume designs - check
Strong harem implications - check
Guys with whacky hair - check
Guys with _Ridiculously_ large muscles - check (note the emphasis)
Geeky lead males who are somewhat oblivious to the advances of the beautiful women around them - check
Accidental groping - check

No matter how you approach it, this is a shonen...meaning it is a form read more

This manga is a crazies one but there is a must to enjoy the manga you should keep up with it.It sounds odd I know but you will cross with some odd chapters that for understand the point you will read a few times.Except that it's a really nice manga we have here.
The story about a war which is about 12 families with extraordinary ability.(It's not about a school tournament fight trust me :D)It is sometimes take you a diffrent time(which is bound to main story and they're like explanations for main story). For saying something about story I think it's amazing(don't judge manga with anime read more

Manga: Aiki
Although Tenjou Tenge has a more serious story line, both are primarily martial arts manga with lots of ecchi.

Manga: Ikkitousen
Let's just say if you're looking breasts and butts and girls kicking ass with more blood and mature themes but not Hentai, try Tenjou Tenge the manga version. The TV version takes out all the nudity.

Manga: The Breaker
Badass action, fighting schools.

Manga: Veritas
Both are about fighting with supernatural powers, and they are similar somehow to each other

Manga: Air Gear
both are by oh great! similar type of comedy and art bolth main characters are delinquents but tenjho tenge is way more explict

Manga: Hanza Sky
Very similar opening story line. Both tenjou tenge and hanza sky have delinquents that join a martial arts club in their school. They start a fight with a member and then join after being trounced by a beautiful female member who saves her kouhai. That's where the similarities end however; and tenjou tenge diverges into a world of supernatural martial arts fighting. While hanza sky follows more of the path of other martial arts manga and has inter-high matches and focuses on personal growth kind of like full contact and karate shoukoushi kohinata minoru.
