Hadashi de Bara wo Fume (Manga)

At first, I wasn't very sure I'd enjoy this manga. It started very suddenly, giving the reader no chance what-so-ever to get used to the rapid storyline & threw the reader into the happenings right away. What I assumed to be a bad thing at first, soon developed to be one of the story's main strenghts: the sudden change of scenery, the rapid pacing of the Storyline & twists and turns that give it its special spice. The further you proceed in the Story, the deeper the characters and the main storylines get. What seemed to be a pretty usual and ordinary storyline full of stereotypical characters soon develops into a beautiful, slightly melancholic & sad touch and deep story that is able to make the reader cry, smile and excited. Especially the Art Work caught my Eye. It's simply magnificent. Everyone should at least take a Look at this great manga. I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

Hadashi de Bara o Fume, (Stepping on roses barefoot) is a typical cinderella story shoujo where the poor girl marries a "prince". Although this is much more interesting. The "prince" Shouichirou is a man that only thinks about power, status and money and he "buys" Sumi to marry her because he needed a wife so he could inherit the fourtune of his grandfather. Sumi, the main character is very poor and has a lot of kids that her brother brought home. So, to save them, she accepts Shouichirou´s deal. The problem is that Shouichirou doesnt love her and Sumi has feelings for another man, Nozumu, which is Shouichirou´s best friend, and is very kind hearted. What Sumi will do? This love triangle will keep you busy, and you will want to read more. Besides that, you have funny moments with Sumi´s eldest brother. The art is very cute too. I reccomend it to shoujo fans:) read more
