I saw this manga at the bookstore, and was intrigued enough by the cover to pick up a volume to give it a try. I must say, it wasn't money wasted... just not put to the amount of enjoyment that I wanted. Don't get me wrong, this manga is definately a ten- if you're around eight years old. That is precisely the age group that this manga was written for.
The plot is typical for a young girl's manga- a bright, bubbly girl as the lead, and two boys competing for her heart. Knowing that it was for young girls didn't make the plotline more palatable- I still winced when it became clear very early on who her 'prince' was. The lead's boys are stereotypical, cookie-cutter leads for their roles. One is the bright, friendly, most-loved son oif the family and the other is an angry, argumentative 'black sheep', if they can be called that at their ages. And the Lead Girl? She can cook, and she's nice. Not terribly original- these same concepts have been put to use elsewhere with better results.
Given the legnth of the manga, you don't really get more of their personality. Of course, you also have the standard mean classmates, clueless school administrators, and the lead girl always showing them the light with her cooking. I must say, all the dishes she makes look delishious, but it still doesn't say much when that's the most memorable part of the story.
Do NOT make this the end-all of your manga experience. Use it as a chance to leap into better and better series. If you're looking for good manga that's similar, try Shugo Chara! and Beauty Pop, or if you're a bit older, Chibi Vampire , Ouran High School Host Club, or even Ah! My Goddess. Those do the same story, but with a twist each time and are classics in their own right. read more

This is an outstanding manga.
story is about a female heroine who has absolute taste in food and can create dishes that brings smiles to everyone. the heroine is an orphan raised in Hokkaido with people that are warm and supportive of her cooking. Her deceased parents were also one of the greatest pastry chefs known all around the world. Because of her family history as well as her absolute taste, she gets invited to a prestigious school. One of the main reasons for the heroine to accept the scholarship to the school is to find her Flan Prince who's given her strength during her childhood after the death of her parents.
Throughout the chapters, the heroine goes through cooking competitions as well as romantic dramas and tragedies that finally end with a happy ending.
The only bad thing about this manga has to be that it's too short and doesn't have a clear ending to her pastry success. The manga implies for her success in the future but doesn't show the readers what exactly happens.
Overall, it's a fantastic manga and one of the best I've read. :D read more

In both manga the heroine has an excellent sense of taste and got into a special school thanks to someone's recommendation. While Najica plans to become a chef and is already good at cooking, Ichigo wants to become a pâtissière just like her grandmother and is a complete beginner.
Both about cooking and have a similar storyline.
They're both about a young girl who wants to be a chef when she grows up.
And they both have the same sort of shoujo style to them.
- both the protagonists love sweets;
- both have a sharp taste;
- both face difficulties in school;
- are rejected by their classmates;
- but they find friends;
- and continue to fight for your dreams;
- change opinions,
- and upgrade themselves, proving their value.
Both Main charcters ate something good which made them smile and want to learn how to cook / bake. Najika and Ichijo Both get recomended into a rich school for the talented, and aim to make the best dessert / strawberry tart that they ate when they were little that made them smile. Najika and Ichigo both love eatting. Along the way of becoming famous, they both meet 2-3 nice guys that help them on there way, and have some sort of romantic feeling between them, which leads to a group of hater girls.
In conclusion Kitchen princess and Yumeiro Patissiere are exactly the same in every way apart from yumeiro patissiere has 3 guys and sweet spirits which help ichigo able to make sweets better.
Both main character is a girl and the theme is mainly about cooking and romance.
Also both has that cold hearted boy before getting to know the girl. SO amazing and cute! <3
The plot is pretty similar except in Kitchen Princess, Najika was already a talented chef from the start, and in yumeiro Patissiere, Ichigo has to work hard to become a wonder patissiere. They are both simply amazing.
Najika from Kitchen Princess is like Ichigo if she could cook well. Both girls have an extraordinary sense of taste and a great idea of what goes well together, and both want to become a patissiere. Ichigo wants to become a patissiere with no experience, while Najika can already cook. At first, both girls are excluded from their classes, but they both eventually get accepted, and respected.

The circumstances and characters and their relationships to each other have a similar feel to it.
Tohru and Najika are both orphans facing tremendous opposition from those in power. Both girls have an amazing power of optimism to overcome theseobstacles, and even the two main male characters are similiar: Daichi is just like Kyo, and Sora is like Yuki.
WOW. Although these two manga's have totally different settings, Fruits Basket is school life touching fantasy and Kitchen Princess is school life about cooking, the main characters practically share the same kind of spirit and both stories have the same sort of depth. Fruitsbasket has more characters, though and is a bit longer. I'm sure though that if you like one, you'll like the other- especially if you love the main character and the over all feel of the story
I was instantly struck by their similarities. I suppose Fruits Basket vaguely does have something to do with food, but it's more analogical, and anyway, that's not the point. At first glance, both are typical, fluffy, mindless, shoujo manga, but as you read, they become something much more. Fruits Basket and Kitchen Princess are both beautifully illustrated, heart-warming stories that will make you laugh, cry, and feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside, about a ridiculously cheerful, optimistic albeit clueless orphaned heroine, an oranyan and a beautiful student council president who seems way too perfect. The oranyan and the beautiful student council president don't get along that well, either. And they're related. Okay, there are way too many similarities. Is this normal? Yuki isn't the student council president until farther along in the story, but whatever. If you adored Kitchen Princess, you'll love Fruits Basket even more!
Kitchen Princess and Fruits Basket are both about orphans who are very hard working and kind. Both of these manga include love triangles and alot of the characters are similar. Both of these manga include psychological drama and some tragedy but are also very uplifting at times. But Fruits Basket is more of a fantasy and Kitchen Princess deals with more realistic matters.
The characters in both stories are very similar. Najika is like Tohru. They are both extremely moe and sweet. Sora is similar to Yuki. Both characters are popular and somewhat quiet. Daichi is like Kyo. Daichi, like Kyo, is also fairly popular and pick on the main heroine a little at first. Both Fruits Basket and Kitchen Princess are sweet and worth your time if you are as into shoujo manga as me. :)
