Synopsis

Shinya doesn't get stellar grades, he's not athletic, he's a coward, he's a wimp...he's a general good-for-nothing. One day, he meets Haruna, a girl that could change his life forever. Haruna tells Shinya he is the Messiah. The Lord chosen to save her world and that she is his shield.

Could it be true? Could Shinya's life of ineptitude be balance for this one grand cause? Is he really the Messiah? If he is, can he save himself, let alone an entire world?

Watashi no Messiah-sama was initially published in Shounen Gangan from January 12, 2002 to March 12, 2004. It moved to GFantasy on September 18, 2004 under the title Watashi no Messiah-sama: Lacrima. Volumes 1-6 retain the original title while volumes 7-13 contain the subtitle with the chapter count restarting at 0.

In 2009, Kadokawa Shoten reprinted the series into six bunkoban volumes. This version edited the order of the chapters and didn't include the two one-shots, but instead added the kakioroshi chapter in volumes 5 and 6 titled "Kyou no Meshi 2009" (今日の飯2009).

Watashi no Messiah-sama is a grand fantasy (isekai even) story based on melodrama between friends. Like Minazuki Suu's other works, it follows an average schoolboy (Yumiki Shinya) getting caught up in a world of angels and intrigue.

Th story's main theme is betrayal, with the main plot points being moved by one form of betrayal or another. It ultimately argues against using betrayal as an excuse to commit evil acts. Each character motivated out of revenge for betrayals ultimately suffers dearly in the from of insecurity or lost friendships. I incidentally heard this song when I was reading Watashi no Messiah-sama (WnM). And you know what? It’s surprisingly fit so well to the story which is fulfill with darkness and drama.

First i know its mangaka, Minazuki Suu from Sora no Otoshimono, and i love its art and chara design. And then i found this manga made by same author so i think i will have a look at this, and i am very surprised!!This is as good and maybe better than Sora no Otoshimono. I am surprised Suu can make heavy touching drama manga like this so good!!

This manga has a very wonderful story, its so touching my heart. It's a very good heavy touching drama manga. Reader will feel whats it's like to be main character and will feel like you are just in ... there. Reader will feel psychological conflict generated by its story, your sense in good and evil, humanity, friendship, and love will be tested. And the best in this manga is twisted fate after twisted fate, so many cruel fate will fall upon its main char and friends, get ready to shed your tears!. There are action, adventure, drama, fantasy, magic & romance mixed so good that i warrant you will be enjoying it. There are comedy and ecchi but by a small amount. Just so you all know that i cried as i read its final volume, so i dont need to explain it again right?

Minazuki Suu is one of few mangaka that i know of that has outstanding skill in its manga art, there is no doubt about his drawing, drawing is so good and just very good!!

Character=>8
Character design is just as good as art, it's very good!. And character depth is very good too!!. Almost all characters in this manga has a wonderful background story and conflict, they are told in a fascinating way that reader will enjoy it as much. Not just main char, every char around main char end even all villain has their reason that you will soon know.

Enjoyment=>8
If you love sad and touching story, not just comedy manga that make you laugh hard i think you will love and enjoy this. This manga has a very good heavy story that you need once a while not just laugh after laugh while reading manga.

-Its storyline maybe a little confused, many story loop happen several times and you will need time to understand. But i think its mangaka want to explain it in a different way
-Cruel fate after cruel fate, disaster after disaster will fall to main char, maybe you will get tired of this, but trust me it's worthed!
-In fights, almost of a time main char and his friend always lose! and its villain can kill them at any time they want but they dont want to, they always give them mercy that you will sometimes annoyed reading this, as me too!. This is only weakness i dislike so far.
