High school student Ginji Kusanagi is about to make his dreams come true. He's made his professional boxing debut and is ready to go on the first date with the girl of his dreams, Minako. However, the unthinkable has happened. Ginji is in an accident, and his spirit is seperated from his body, effectively killing him before his time. A (sort of) angel tells him that he can be reincarnated as an animal and return to his body after he's lived out its lifespan. He chooses to be reincarnated as a penguin, Minako's favorite animal. Now Ginji lives with Minako as Gin the penguin and just tries to make it along as a penguin while waiting to be returned to his body.

Tuxedo Gin is a slice of life, comedy, romance series. It fallows the traditional Japanese slice of life/comedy set up found in many classical manga titles such as Doraemon, Ranma 1/2, Sgt. Frog... Unlike these more popular series; however, Tuxedo Gin is one that never got much spotlight and it sadly remains out of most people's radar. With that said I am still a bit surprise to have the privilege of being the first to review this simple, enjoyable series for MAL.

Simple is probably the best word to describe this series. It starts off with one simple unique concept, then developes and extends as far read more

Manga: Pretty Face
Both series are stories about young men who have comically altered appearances and end up lodging with the women they long for while the world believes them dead. They are both also comparable to Detective Conan.

Manga: Ranma ½
Both mangas have a character that turns into an animal. The protagonist lives with the love interest. Both series are episodic. They have the same comedy style. They give off the same vibe as well. If you like one, you will definitely like the other.

Manga: Midori no Hibi
In one, a delinquent winds up with an innocent (but surprisingly noisy!) girl as a replacement hand--the girl informing him she was in love with him from afar. As a result, they're forced to start out as friends as a bizarre boyxgirl-hand rom-com plays out.

In the other, on the day before a young boxer/delinquent's date with a girl he fell for at first sight, he dies. But all is not lost as an angel that resembles Buddha gives him a second chance at life... as a penguin. The penguin lead then moves in with his love and hilarity ensues.
