Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai (Majikoi from now on) is in the words of this synopsis :
"Kawakami Momoyo is a notorious, woman-chasing, large-breasted master fighter. She and her friends at school end up in all sorts of weird situations, often involving people attempting to defeat Momoyo. Now there are new transfer students from Germany joining their class. Who are these new students, and will they fit in with the crazy bunch surrounding Momoyo?"
But you already knew that...
What you really want to know is
1) is this manga any good?
2) is this manga any good, not counting the fan-service and excessive echhi please?
3) large breasts!!! where ar-----, i mean do we see anything?
4) Why is your picture a really bad alligator joke and not anime/manga related?
well i'm here to answer this with as much grace as i can muster
1) yes
2) yes, somehow this isn't the main feature
3) soon my padawan, soon
4) Because it is, and it's awesome
more detail i hear you ask?
okay then but if you fall asleep here it isnt my fault (seriously...)
Story 7/10
This is not Majikoi's ace in the hole to be frank.
The story itself is fairly standard, good childhood friends now in high school meet new people (the standard transfer student ploy) who are intergrated into the group, throw in your standard "elitism" class and school festivals and you've gotten yourself a standard school based manga.
What makes this a 7 "good" and not a 5 "average" or 6 "fine" is the schools habit of dueling and challenging one another which adds in a very interesting one shot stories and brings fun variants which would not have been included otherwise, also more recent events bumped up the score but i wouldn't want to spoil anything for you.
And did i mention Momoyo's the best fighter in the world...
Art 8/10
I will profess that i am not a connoisseur of manga art but Majikoi's art style is the type of one i personally like, it's simple and well regulated blend of normality and detail make this read like any other manga, attention to detail is fine and nothing feels like the drawing has been rushed.
This one is a personal opinion though, each to their own for art preferences
Charater 9/10
Now this is what makes me love this manga, the characters here are truly what made me feel frustration that i'd have to wait a month for a new chapter.
Everyone has their own idiocies and quirks, from Momoyo's habit of playing tetris with human bodies to Miyako's constantly rejected advances every character can make you laugh, feel better or sympathise with them.
These are people you wish you were friends with in real life and is a real coup de foundre, you instantly love the characters and want the best for them
Enjoyment 9/10
This and the characters is why i read this manga, not for the art (i never do) and not for the semi-generic story-line (still kept me interested).
I read this because it was fun to read and i loved all the characters bumbling through the story at a relaxing and casual pace, i never felt rushed but i had a good time browsing through the story and did thoroughly enjoy myself whenever something new and usually idiotic appeared, it was a shining light of happiness in my day, albeit one with dubious amounts of exposed breasts
Overall 8/10
It's not a masterpiece by any shot, but neither is it one to read for the sake of reading.
If you are a fan of this type then you'll love it, if you aren't fully committed like myself then you will still get a fun experience and will enjoy the friendly atmosphere tinged with portions of action and a fair amount of comedy.
All in all a good read and worth doing so.
Thanks sticking through with this tacky review up to this point

Similarities between these two titles include: an almost invincible female protagonist; the constant highlighting of comradery amongst friends; exagerrated battles; and copious amounts of fanservice.
They're both comedic ecchi battle manga with that are similar in that they both have an almost invincible female lead and a rabble of eccentric friends that fight and joke alogside her. They also have a somewhat similar art style.
In medaka box the plot is geared more toward the battle aspect, while Maji de Watashi ni Koi Shinasai! focuses more on the comedy. Both have no shortage of ecchi scenes. Watashi, however, goes further than Medaka Box in ecchiness in that watashi occasionally has a glimpse of full frontal nudity or more sexual humor.

Both series frequently situate the male protagonist working together with a number of female characters; all of whom are romantically interested in him. Both series are also characterised by action and ecchi.
