SynopsisOn the world that consists of a single giant continent called Dokkanon, most people have some kind of special ability. Those who have a high-ranking ability, such as the ability to control water, are respected and granted much power. Those with low-ranking abilities, such as Nana, who controls bananas, and her best friend Ringo, who has super-powerful legs, have very little power in society. When Nana and Ringo were kids, they were awed by stories from Ringo's adventurer father about a land called Oz, where a god lived who could make any wish come true. Nana and Ringo swore that they would go adventuring together when they were adults. But as time went by, Ringo's father vanished while adventuring, and Ringo became much more aware of the social stigma associated with adventurers. Will the two of them find the strength and courage to follow through with their promise? |

This manga is awesome. Obviously updated barely once in two months, but awesome. This manga could pick up such dirty amounts of money it is almost an embarrassment. This manga could be as big as Suzumiya. It could be a hit. This manga SHOULD be all that.
~Story~ (8)
The plot is set on a single continent of the world, divided into several countries. Rules, or God if you will, of this world say that every person is born with a unique ability, and depending on what kind of ability it is, we have high class society and low class society.
And there comes story of Nana of Banana - with power of controlling bananas in every way possible - who together with her friend Ringo, with power of strong legs and jumps, goes off into an adventure to find mysterious land of Oz, where God will grant them 3 wishes.
It is funny. It is definitely interesting with its strange premise. It is wonderfully cliched (and I mean positively), and I dare to say it is something like One Piece with not annoying, but fine ecchi and many cute chicks - there are strong themes of friendship, loyalty and courage, there is a big adventure ahead, and Nana is even gathering a crew who happens to have some sad past behind them.
It is positively addicting and so original it's hard to resist.
~Art~ (8)
It is not extremely good, but it is definitely above average - while the character designs are cute, and luckily recognizable, they aren't too original, or different than many other manga out there. Still, the action scenes are rather awesome, there isn't much lack of scenery, and whatever is drawn is drawn pretty well - to put it short, you don't have to look twice to realize what the Heck just happened.
~Character~ (8)
I'd say, the weakest, but not at all bad part of the manga. The rating is the way it is pretty much because we've seen these characters before - Nana is exactly like Luffy from One Piece for instance - only she's actually smart(er). Ringo is a tsundere girl, but she's a really sweet, non-annoying type of tsundere though, and she doesn't have that side of herself shown all the time, so she's pretty likeable. There is an evil~ bit*h who wants both of them to suffer, and only for the fun. They are typical, but still kind of unique in their own way.
And then there is a cute maid character introduced. And she's also badass.
Characters are somewhat typical, and yet they manage to offer a fresh breath of logical conversation and developments.
~Enjoyment~ (9)
Anyone who enjoys adventure will love this. It is short so far, with only 5 chapters released, but I already favorite it, because it is so bloody awesome. It is adventurous, definitely not boring, so awesomely weird at times, and simply fun to follow.
~Overall~ (9)
It is adventurous, humorous, extremely creative with the setting of the world, and simply epic. Give it a try if you're willing to wait for the rare updates, especially if you're into shounen, and a bit of ecchiness. read more

Same genius mangaka, Oniyazu Kakashi. Adventure, comedy, ecchi, fantasy and comedy again.
No need to say more. Good, read.

Banana no Nana and One Piece have quite a lot in common, although both are rather unique and enjoyable in their own way.
It starts out with a promise made in their childhood with a fatherly figure. For Luffy it's the promise with Shanks to be a pirate and surpass him (and find One Piece). For Nana and Ringo its the promise with Ringo's father to travel the world (and find Oz). At the age of 16 they all set out on an epic adventure, but soon have to face the first obstacles on their way to freedom.
Both, Luffy and Nana, have seemingly - and comparatively - useless special abilities (being made out of rubber and being able to manipulate bananas), but, with immense creativity, manage to turn it into a fearsome power. They also both seem to be similarly easy-going, yet incredibly reliable and, as the never-giving-up-type, always trying to protect their "nakama" - who Luffy and Nana are trying to gather during their journey - at all costs.
All of that makes for an epic, creative and humorous adventure with very likeable characters.
