An intricate story revolving around Han Bi Kwang, as he follows a hero's journey. Just throw in a historic setting, ancient weapons, and a riveting plotline, and you have one of the most highly-acclaimed manwha, a definite must-read.

Bi-Kwang and Hwa-Rin try in vain to shake off Sang Pil "Gold Cobra" Jin and his men, but, ultimately, they are forced to defend themselves. Unfortunately, Bi-Kwang and Hwa-Rin lose, and the Sword of the Flowers is taken from them.

Bi-Kwang and Hwa-Rin regroup, pursuing Sang Pil Jin in an effort to retrieve the sword, but then Sang Pil and his men learn that Bi-Kwang and Hwa-Rin aren't the only ones after them. Sang Pil's superior, Master Yoo, has learned that Sang Pil planned to keep the sword for himself, and has approached Shi-Yun, leader of the Black Serpents, for help.

The lives of Bi-Kwang, Hwa-Rin, Sang Pil Jin, and his men are all in danger, as Master Yoo and the Black Serpents join forces and search for the sword together.

Ruler of the Land had three volumes published in English as The Ruler of the Land by ADV Manga from April 20, 2004 to July 27, 2004 before the license was dropped and the publisher went defunct.

Plot- The story revolves around Bi Kwang who is the 6th disciple of the most powerful master of the dark clan,Despite this Han Bi Kwang has no desire to learn martial arts and only wants women and live a peaceful life, but little did he know he is actually a genius. He is a true martial artist that is born only once per thousand years, out on the road he meets an extraordinary swordfighter Hwa-Rin (main female lead of the series) who is searching for a legendary master warrior.

This anime reminds me of Stars wars a little but in medieval Chinese times, the war between the dark force and the light force makes it even more enjoyable, there are so many guilds/clans whatever you want to call them and they have their own masters and disciples which are all pretty strong, also it gets better their are another 4 kingdoms who are called the neutral force who do not want to get involved in the conflict between the two main forces, the main characters is similar to Goku from Dragonballz the way he looks and how after every battle his power just increases read more

Surprised their are no reviews yet for this manhwa considering it's being updated with 148 chapters already released, but no matter cause here is MY review.

Story - Ruler of the Land is about Han Bi Kwang the 6th disciple of the most powerful master of the dark clan. Despite this Han Bi Kwang has no desire to learn martial arts and only wants to find a wife and live a peaceful life. The story is quite good despite there not being any overall plot like becoming the strongest or taking over the world or anything like that. Mostly you just follow Han Bi read more

The Ruler of the land is pretty entertaining, I quickly read through the scanlated chapters and it left me wanting more.

The story: 8/10: The story is a bit cliche, but since this manhwa was made back in the 90s I can forgive it. It is an adventure type story where the main character just goes in whichever direction his penis is pointing. Quite different from the usual main characters that are too scared to look at women.

The art: 7/10: The art isn't too spectacular, but it is still good and the way the panels are managed made the actions and martial arts the characters read more

Manga: Slam Dunk
I know it may seem like two completely different manga one is sport other is martial arts. But after reading them ull know they have a lot in common.
- have a protagonist who starts out as idiot rookie but actually are genius at what they do.
-Protagonist learn new skills at unbelievable speed.
-protagonist are first reluctant to play basketball/learn martial art but do so for a girl.
And finally both are extremely good...

Manga: Majeh
Both of the protagonist start out kind of strong but they really have a lot of potential to get insanely strong. Both of them also has a some kind of mysterious background that nones really knows of. They are also both casted in the old murim where the weak obey the strong. And both of them also have very, very similar humor. The art is also quite similar with that kind of old stylish look. If you like a strong protagonist with a good story and great humor then I recommend it.

Manga: Dragon Ball
If you used to laugh your heart out with Dragon Ball and it's hilarious comedy you will feel at ease reading Ruler of the Land. Both follow a monogatari style, basically it's the growth of the main character as time passes by. Our main characters live in their own way in a world of Martial Arts; Ruler of the Land abuses of ecchi and sarcasm to make a hilarious series worthy of a comedy Masterpiece, and with enough chapters to last a story like Dragon Ball with their inner plot that isn't our main focus on the story.

Manga: Id
both have really strong main heros and come from a martial arts based land even though id got teleported out of hers. also kinda mix magic and martial arts

Manga: Ping
Have you ever wished for a martial arts manga that contained as much action, as many flashy named moves and extreme ki strikes as Ruler of the Land, but set in modern times?! No, this isn't the breaker, this is Ping, the martial arts manga involving men! and ladies! and old ladies that look young! Featuring your favourite move "insert two adjectives, a noun, and the word 'strike' here" and just as much action as you can fit into a concise manga, which could have been written as a modern day sequel to the murim life in modern times!

Manga: Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan
PLEASE READ~ It's hard to make a recommendation for "Ruler of the Land" because it is awesome in its own way. Both ROTL and Kenshin are great fantasy historical battle manga. While Kenshin is great at story and characters, ROTL is better as a comedy and introduces a wide range of characters with SUPER COOL BATTLE TECHNIQUES. Number one recommendation!
