Synopsis

Akira Inugami just transfered into his new school. The principal and teachers fear what may happen because Inugami was placed in the same homeroom as the school's biggest problem and gang leader.

His homeroom teacher Aoshika is going out of her mind trying to figure out what happened the night before, where she could have sworn she saw this same Inugami beaten alive and then hit by a car by a large group of thugs in a park. But somehow, Inugami, who denys everything, of course, is alive and without a scratch attending his first day at his new school.

What the teacher Aoshika did not witness was a crazy werewolf-like beast destroy the thugs that attacked Inugami in the park.

So look at the numbers I have put on this one, and you will see something strange.

Story - 7
Art- 10
Character-8
Overall-7
Enjoyment-2

But...enjoyment 2? really?

Okay, so here's the deal with this manga. Don't pay any attention to any review written by someone who hasn't read all or almost all of the chapters. For the most part this is just a fun violent story about a werewolf fighting gang members. It's pretty hard on the gore, but I mean...werewolves.

But then the story gets to this place and I just.....

I mean I understand that a lot of writers, especially male writers, think that having a girl get raped read more

Wolf Guy - Wolfen Crest, at least thats what onemanga calls it, is a manga about a werewolf named Akira. And that's a good enough introduction for me, so on to the review.

STORY: 8/10
Well, there are only 19 chapters out at the time of this review so theres not too much of a story right now. Although the little story there is seems to be good. Akira is in his last year of middle school and has just transfered into one of the most dangerous schools ever. Seriously. He walks into class on the first day, starts to write his name on the board, and read more

(CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS)
Rather than ponder over which line to open this review with, I’ve just decided to use them both:

1. I read this for the romance
2. SONOFABITCH!

That’s right, you read #1 correctly—and yes, I know me saying that is close to the border of someone saying “I watch porn for the story.” I started Wolf Guy for the werewolves and stayed for the romance between Inugami and Aoshika. What can I say? I’m a sucker for a good romance and I loved the way their relationship was drawn out by the mangaka. It’s not often that I come across a non-shoujo in which I enjoy the love read more

before i get into the grades and all that let me just put a couple things out there about this manga. This is one of those stories you either LOVE or HATE. dont go in expecting the best story youve ever read because this isnt what they were going for here (that being said i do like the story very much it just isnt the strong point of this manga). This manga is about intensity and violence and the most badass mofo around. who is also a werewolf.

Story - 7

Like i said in my intro, not the biggest strength of this manga. While very enjoyable read more

Manga: Akumetsu
Akumetsu and Wolf Guy are both created by the same author and artist, so the art is of course similar, with tons of violence and a struggle that turns more and more desperate as the climax approaches, as the lead is forced to handle the situation without the use of his talents

Manga: Kokou no Hito
Wolf Guy and Kokou no Hito not only are akin in art style, but also their protagonists show some amazing similarities. Optically, but especially in their characteristics. Both are rather sociophobic and try to remain isolated, both partially have a very sinister and dramatic atmosphere.
Wolf Guy feels like an "aggressive brother" to Kokou no Hito to me.

Manga: Killing Bites
These series are enveloped by the same atmosphere, after a few pages of reading Killing Bites I immediately though of Wolf Guy: Ookami no Monshou. They both deal with supernatural creatures and seem to have a kill or be killed undertone. If you enjoyed reading Wolf Guy, I'm sure you'll find Killing bites rather interesting!

Manga: Dance in the Vampire Bund
Same atmosphere and the main characters exude the same aura.

Manga: Claymore
Both Main Characters try to stay isolated and away from people and life around them after they experience losing their love ones at a early age. Both Protagonists are very strong and powerful and trouble appears where ever they seem to go. As the story of both Manga's start to reach it's climax, we see a love interest start to develop but also character growth/development.

Manga: Sun-Ken Rock
Sun-ken Rock is the lighter and more comedic version of Wolf Guy. Ken, the protagonist of Sun-ken Rock, resembles Haguro of Wolf Guy, but Ken is much less scary, although as muscular as Haguro. And as strong as him. Both are about gangs, more or less. Not to mention both have explicit scenes. And rape.
