Sweet and naïve Hanato Kobato came to Earth on a mission to collect and fill a bottle with "konpeito," which appear after healing a person's heart that is suffering. Kobato collects these because it is her wish to go to a certain place. Despite her strangeness, Kobato turns out to be well-suited for this mission as her heartfelt sincerity in helping others earns her the love and admiration of everyone she meets; however, she is not allowed to fall in love with anyone whose heart she heals.

Please note that I haven't finished reading "Kobato" yet, because it is still in the process of publishing.

Kobato is one of those mangas that makes you smile. And I don't mean just any smile; the kind of smile that comes from seeing acts of kindness (and cuteness) that only our heroin, Kobato Hanato, could create.

Kobato Hanato is a mysterious girl who's mission is to fill up a bottle in order to grant her wish. The only problem is, the bottle can only be filled when she heals wounded hearts. With the help of her strange and foul-mouthed friend, a stuffed dog like thing read more

First off I've read all the released chapter which would be Drop. 23d. (Which I've counted all the chapters to be about 39 if they are published by real chapters like in Yen Press so that is why it says I've read 39 chapters.) Kobato. has not ended yet, though and is released monthly. Now for the review.

O.k. I will say that when I first heard of Kobato. I didn't think it would be all that great. I was looking at works by CLAMP, who I enjoy a lot of manga from and when I got to Kobato. I thought it just looked stupid. read more

The story revolves around Kobato, a girl who is commissioned to complete a quest, this is to fill a bottle with the wishes of the wounded hearts of the people, in order to fulfill his wish. As she does, she has a companion called Ioryogi, a talking teddy stubborn. In the course of history, Kobato will encounter people who need to be healed and help to obtain their "fragments" to fulfill his wish.
At the beginning of the story is not much recount the details of the story, as in almost all Clamp stories, is in the end when at last you get to understand read more

Hanato Kobato is a girl who is accompanied by a hot tempered little dog named Ioryogi-san. Her job is to fill a bottle with "fragments" of healed hearts from people she helps. Once the bottle is full she can have her wish granted (no one knows what it is yet). Soon, she runs into a woman named Sayaka and a man named Fujimoto who both run Yomogi nursery. Kobato soon realizes that Yomogi nursery may be in danger but continues her mission with the bottle. No one quite knows who she is or where she came from, but there are suspicions that she may be read more

Manga: Wish
Kobato has a really nice feel to it. There are also a lot of similar aspects (i.e. kind of a tie in?) to each other. I found Wish to be a good, cute read.

You get the lighthearted story with cute characters, but also a good bit of that key character development. And, of course, there's always that little conflict that makes things even better.

Manga: Fruits Basket
Similar naive and happy-go-lucky heroines that are Goody two shoes and only think in other´s well being.
Slice of life moments of the heroines daily lives helping/healing people around them.
Drama and Romance involving main characters and supporting characters too.
Both also have supernatural elements: cursed people who transform into animals and for a similar reason: one of them (the dog in kobato, the cat in Furuba) angered God and for that all of them were punished.

Manga: Dengeki Daisy
They both have romance and the protagonists have similar personalities. They're very interesting and original in their own way.

Manga: Shinigami no Ballad.
In both series, young girls help others heal themselves. In addition, both are aided by talking animals, in one case a cat and the other a stuffed animal.

Manga: Nui!
Both have a Stuffed Animal companion.

Manga: Himawari-san
Kobato and Himawari-san have similar main characters: Matsuri and Kobato, they are both somehow clumsy and not really smart, but even though they are caring. Also both manga are set in specific places: library/kinder garden. Sayaka and Himawari-san look alike. Also there are some kids in Himawari-san that face problems like in Kobato. And the both have a similar feeling generally. Although I have to say that Kobato unlike Himawari-san was fantasy and drama.
