I found a women logic meme and that brings me back to my long time curiosity.

My question to females.
a) Do you have same kind of logic? or
b) Are you okay with both? or
c) You found it pretty stupid?

for me. the answer is C. I never wore bikini neither i have planned to, ever.. Culture difference or whatever but i even found it embarrassing when i see someone else doing that, and I keep wondering when i see every anime girl with same logic.

or is there anyone can explain me some big difference between underwear and bikini which caused this logic to begin with.

Also one more thing i never understand about skirts and underwear. I think Maki (minami-ke) summed up pretty well. so let me post that instead.

I can't say I have ever met a woman who would feel shy in her underwear but would choose to wear a bikini.

These are 2 different things.

You buy a bikini knowing that people will see you in it, you buy it with that reason in mind.

When you buy underwear that isn't the case, you buy something you really like/thinks cute, at most you only want 1 person to see it, it's a lot more personal.

It's definitely not stupid at all.

I think you're pretty much spot on. Its weird though, there are some women who deliberately have some of their underwear showing (kinda slutty if you ask me...) and they're probably the kind who like wearing bikinis in summer. On the other hand, there are women like me who would be utterly mortified if anyone other than their partner saw them in their underwear and wouldn't even consider wearing a bikini. Ever. I'm guessing it all comes down to a woman's confidence, but no, I don't think its stupid at all.

Underwear is generally not great to be wearing in public, for a few reason. It's either Really Functional, like borning, dull and big. Or sexy, like frills with see through bits. And then lets not forget the silly patterns like cows, and such ( I have a pair of panties with cows on, they are awesome ^_^) So being seen it it, is just way no.

But Bikini is designed to be worn in the swimming pool, it does not go see through if it gets wet, does not have frills of any kind and generally looks nicer.

So yeah. It's not a body issue, at least not for me. People are going to see what they are going to see, but No way would I like to be seen in a comfy bra and pants in public.

Difference is something like

I droped my pants on my last year of high school in front of 200 people, just my pants didn't take the short off.
This topic would be way more fun if people shared their experiences of being on their underwear in public.

I don't understand. If a girl can show off her bikini and if she buy very similar underware, why would be she emabbarased? I think they are pretty much the same thing. either you wouldn't want anyone to see your body and underware (except your partner of-course) or that logic will apply.

It's not about them seeing your body, at all.

That's what you don't understand, I've worn a bikini before, I didn't really mind that much about being seen in it, or I wouldn't of wore it in the first place.

That still doesn't mean I'm gonna walk around a beach in my bra and panties, it's 2 completely different things.

Underwear is just a lot more personal.

Yes, underwear is more personal, but Han-yuu raises a good point: some underwear and bikinis look identical or at least very similar. The number of times I've gone clothes shopping and thought some bikinis looked suspiciously more like racy underwear. If they are so similar, its harder to draw the line between what is acceptable in public and what is not.

Well I don't usually go for the ones that look like they are underwear, so I can't comment there.

As I see it's a mentality thing, if I'm going to a beach or something and I'm wearing a bikini I know that I'm going to be seen in it, so I'm prepared for that.

I'm not prepared for my skirt to blow up and someone to see my panties.

Two things which were already covered I think, but oh well. Bikinis are designed to get wet, when underwear get wet they become skin tight and potentially transparent. Skimpy bikinis do exist of course, but a lot of girls/women opt for bathing suits that are less revealing than the underwear/bras they normally wear.

If you feel embarrassed showing off your underwear then do you wear skirt? maybe you're not aware the fact that someone seen them. Also do you think those schools with short skirt uniform are actually doing sexual harassment, just like Maki said. :)

I do wear skirts yes, that's probably the one thing you could actually say that meme is right about. It is sometimes a bit stupid to wear a skirt if you're worried about that.

Dunno about the school thing, UK schools dont force girls to wear skirts.

If I want to wear a skirt without leggings or tights, I make damn well sure that (1) its not a windy day, (2) that I'm more aware of how I sit, and (3) that the back of my skirt hasn't managed to tuck itself into the back of underwear or anything. The skirt I wear the most is my denim one, its firm and won't blow up in the wind and potentially humiliate me.

I'm not embarrassed by my underwear if it accidentally shows. But then, I was in cast at the local RHPS for a while (back when it was any good, before people with no lives outside of it took over), so not much can really embarrass me at this point.

I never did understand why girls would wear bikinis in the summertime but be embarrassed about underwear, though. It just... it doesn't make sense at all, unless of course you have crotchless undies or something to that respect. ;)

While some schools are more strict than others, I don't think I have ever seen a cute school uniform. Skirts are usually down to the knee and the dresses are like shapeless sacks. And the teachers would tell you to lower your skirt length if you rolled it up too short. For most part they pretended not to notice if you raised it a bit but if it was so short you could see the knickers, they would definately pull you up.

It's so funny I was having this chat with a friend of mine today, and she says the difference is the fabric as to why girls consider it different. but from a males point of view none of that matters, but the amount of skin you're revealing.

It's the same Bikini and Underwear. question is why they don't feel embarrassed when wearing Bikinis...

It's like I said, it's because you know you're going to be seen wearing a Bikini, unless you're "that type of girl", you don't really expect to be seen in your bra or panties.

First time I wore a bikini I was pretty nervous, but after that, not really.

The fabric comment is true, as people have said if a bra or panties get wear they become transparent and clingy to your body.

When i see that in anime/drama and think about reality. I wonder how those girls feel when they've to wear skirts in cold weather without tights etc. I lived in a culture, where we don't show our legs at all and still it's not easy to go out when it gets really cold weather. when i see someone with open legs in cold weather, especially when they're forced to wear like school uniform, i feel sorry for them.

So do you girls wear skirts or clothes like that in cold weather just to show off your legs? or you have wear it because of culture trend?

After consulting it with my personal source of insight into women logic this is what she said:
- bikini is bikini, underwear is underwear - one is designed to be wear under clothes, one is meant to wear visible which leads to...
- they have different material in terms of "visibility", design or how quick they dry
- there are certain people around whom she would never wear either of them - this I know, despite her being shameless

And we weren't able to solve that skirt mystery as she doesn't wear those - she looks great in them but they simply don't fit her personality (and in addition with heels it's very miserable sight) so any attempts to solve that mystery failed ;)

pretty much this, plus just the whole "holy shit these are my underwear" vs "out at the beach where everyone else is half naked too" thing probably makes it more embarrassing

Kinda like swim trunks vs boxers, to put it in a different perspective I guess, one's at the very least considered embarrassing, other isnt

It's because you are NOT supposed to see panties that makes it attractive.

The thing is I once had a girl walk past me on the street walking by the local high school, a gust of wind and how about that, she had NO panties on. Yes, it was not a mistake, some things are what they seemed to be. Not all girls shave.

Asked a female friend of mine that I know online and is my age. Her reply was YES, some women do like to do that, it's what it is, a feeling of doing something forbidden. We guys just can't do the equal, as we don't wear skirts or dresses.

Then again, I could always get my clan tartan fabric, make it into a nice pleated skirt (because 100% wool kilts are murder in the summer), and not care about what society epects me to have on. Not to mention telling a scot they are wearing a skirt can be dangerous.
While not technically anime, currently I am a big fan of Hatsune Miku.
At least I can go see her in concert.

Speaking as a Scot who owns a 100% wool kilt, I can tell you that wearing it during summer was surprisingly comfortable.

Telling me it is a skirt will not result in violence, but a sigh of disappointment at how tedious that remark has become.

Always wear stocking or tights, it blocks out the cold, plus long socks also. Never had a problem wearing skirts at all during any weather. even when it was cold and I was wearing nothing but a skirt, never really felt cold, I guess you just zone it out.

In the winter I mostly wear tights or thermals under shorts because i hate wearing pants. In my opinion it's more comfortable and even warmer than pants in some cases.

I love wearing thongs and moving my tralala to impress women

But my secrets aside: I don't see anything wrong even if I am a guy.
I wouldn't mind going at the seaside with my gf and going to the beach with her wearing bikini and actually wherever - not only seaside, but I would mind her showing off her underwear in public, because only I can smell, touch, see that, apart from her. period

From my perspective some bikinis are more revealing than underwear. I'm not comparing it to gma panties either. Most of the time even the "sexy" underwear (minus the thongs and such) are still less revealing than a bikini.

Though I do agree that it just serves different purposes. As a guy we usually aren't "shy" to take a swim, or be in our underwear mostly because its just shorts (unless you wear briefs, though I rarely know people who do these days). Ever since phys ed. in middle school we kind of get used to changing in front of each other and its not a problem, even showering when getting to high school and being in sports and such.

If it was a girlfriend I'd definitely feel uncomfortable if others saw her underwear. Though even with some bikinis its a bit uncomfortable, but you kind of just make sure others understand that she is your girlfriend and things go fine.

I've asked this question to my friends before. Why they feel comfortable in bikinis but not their underwear. Personally, I've never been uncomfortable with other people seeing my body. I'm the other way around, actually. I feel very self-conscious in a swimsuit, but in my underwear, I don't really mind. It's kind of hard to explain.

bikinis are designed to be seen. you wear and wash them a lot less often than underwear.

girls probably wont be embarrassed to be seen in their panties and bras if the set was nice...

so if a girl is subconcious about beeing seen in her underwear i think shes probably wearing something gross underneath, like granny panties, or old panties that may have looked nice, but got worn out from too many wearings and washings or the bra and pantie set doesn't match.

or their could be stains on their underwear or something rofl

I don't get beach mentality at all. I went to the beach once and didn't have time to change into my swim trunks so I decided to change at the beach. So I pulled down my pants, was wearing perfectly socially accepted tight fitting boxer briefs, and changed into my swim trunks. And people looked at me strange because I was "in my underwear". While there was a guy lieing next to me in one of those ridiculous "that can't be good for your balls" briefs which revealed every single detail and that is perfectly fine because it is "swimming gear".

When you buy underwear that isn't the case, you buy something you really like/thinks cute, at most you only want 1 person to see it, it's a lot more personal.

It's definitely not stupid at all.
