Just finished watching episode 1. Not a bad filler OVA episode especially since we get to see pre-zombie Rea fully exposed. Rea's father is ultra creepy here and Aria threw some of her drunk frustrations on Rea.

I swear to God, next time, I hope Rea's Dad changes for good when or if he gets his ass kicked by Chihiro in the upcoming fencing match.

I just saw the episode and IMO the fan service was more a natural add on than one of sexual appeal TBH. The episode did well in tying in the loose ends of Chihiro’s acquiring of the zombie book and how. While on the other hand it showed Rea’s side of thing among others of Aria’s abuse of her physically and her father sexually/mentally. That being said here are some of my thoughts.

About the fan service, it was in 2 parts. Details were visible of nipples. However it was more the ass and blanked out female privates that I though was bolder for this series to stand out.

From the start with the butler opening the curtain and the fact it was red came out as a striking bad news already. Then I see how the father looks at Rea and it’s all over perverted pedo personality. It was in fact that disturbing. It’s even more amazing how the setup and Danichirou was acting out along with the maids being totally stoic in fear of losing their job and income, it’s obvious no one would dare say to Danichirou at this time FUUUUUUUUU you! I am calling the COPS on you PEDO! Like no way, the fear was far too much of any of those maids. Moreover he saw all of her and I was surprised at all the ass and blanked out privates of Rea, that is totally GROSS! In terms of what that sicko’s eyes might be staring. More it’s easy to see 2 things:

A)Rea’s faces, obviously mean she does not like it! She wants it to stop and she is obliged along being powerless.

B)Aria can only drink herself to a forgetful state with a hang over the next morning of how ridiculous of Danichirou of glorifying such a body when she has one that can be far better than of Rea for Danichirou’s health.

About Aria’s physical abuse on Rea. One mistake Aria made and it showed that she does not give a rat’s ass of Rea is showing her alcohol and inviting her to drink it despite claiming it as a joke. Well Aria you DON’T OFFER ALCOHOL TO MINORS! Moreover the hair pulling was totally raging. So much it was that I was a little relief that Rea pushed her out in thee end.

About Chihiro’s Zombie book discovery, quite astounding the background story, what really captivated me of it is the following,

IS THAT THE MOTHER? OMG! Do you see what I see! The mother like that? Well according to seeing a picture of the mother but of specifically having the wind blow the picture out of Chihiro’s hands only to land on the hidden place of the book. OH REALLY! HAHAHA! I ain’t no fool! I KNEW IT! The mother was a zombie and the background story is about her being killed off cause she failed and went out of control. Moreover it would explain of the father’s reaction along with why the grandfather got rid of the book and perhaps even suffered trauma due to the mother being in fact her daughter? It could be very much so a motivational factor that he revived her mainly due to her being dear to him.

About fan service part 2, the last of it shows clearly ass and blanked out privates once again of Rea, clearly showing that the series dares not shy away from being natural as much as the gore oozing out from a wound on Rea once the Bds come out that is. Suffice to say it’s always daring and refreshing to put this out as it shows the all natural of the human body as much as it can be for its depiction.

On that note it was both interesting to see Rea’s and Chihiro’s sides in more details and I do think that ”Notion of see a girl naked and you have to marry her” is strongly applied in the fate dilemma that will ensue as to why Chihiro and Rea meet up later. Except that Chihiro’s wish comes true in love, that of Rea becoming a Zombie later on. So all in all a twisted demented tale of a Zombie and human love ensues. What will be of OVA 2 remains a mystery. Might edit later.

Also, I recall they said something about someone who guided the fate (when Chihiro 'saw' Rea).

It's most likely her mother, am I right? Maybe she wants him to finish up the work they did with her or something?

Really interesting..

i liked the ova. it was one of these ovas that extend the story since we saw what happened before the series, but what bothered me was that rea and chihiro met in the woods. wasnt chihiro's family on a vacation? that means rea took a long trip just to take a bath in the woods. lol
still good ova

First couple of minutes was so uncomfortable! XD The rest of this episode provided some great insight on Chihiro and Rea. Rea's life was so F'ed up and Chihiro's was so uneventful. It kinda makes you glad they were able to meet up with each other eventually.

I know right? it was the worst I've ever felt about fan-service.

I would like a little Wanko service in the other OVA though, was hoping to see some here, but alas, I was disappointed.

It's really terrible to see Rea exposed like that. I felt uneasy during the whole opening.

Great ova, although the bloody scenes were unexpectedly bleak. It's nice to see that Furuya met her way earlier in past. Loved hoe it ended with Rea screaming down the hole, it's still the single most memorable moment of this show for me.

I found it odd how Furuya doesn't watch his zombie movies in full screen. What's the point in windowed mode if he likes them so much?

I don't think it was really a meeting, more like a glimpse through the steam of the hotsprings and a touch of the fingertips that produced a spark between them. (or if you prefer the red string of fate wrapping tight around them)

I thought the backstory was really well done, for both Rea and for Chihiro's family. While we knew Rea's situation was bad, this really showed why she was desperate enough to consider death as an option. Despite Aria's abuse, I can still see that she is also a victim (as well as a victimizer when she is drunk). If anyone should have been killed, it is Danchiro (slowly and painfully please).

Zombie mania guy can still watch what he likes on the car... can't his eye become worse? Anyways, to relative's place in Tohoku.

They don't remember about their mother.

The mother is not treating well on Rea (and the reason is the ep. just aired last week).

lol @ taking care of the storage room full of books. Photo of mother, and box with weird book, which considered useless. He continue reading it, and is a book that he uses to get his cat revived.

im pretty sure the hot spring she was in was a part of the vacation home her family was at. and while Furuya was lost he stumbled across the hot spring.

I really liked the OVA and im looking forward to the next one. i think it willl be a set up for a second season that wont occur for some time. kind of like a bridge between seasons.

A rather well done backstory builder there, especially about Chihiro's mother as that's something new. I wonder if his mother herself became a zombie and this is why his father is keeping quiet about it, notice his face when Chihiro says he remember the bridge from somewhere. It would also explain how easily he accepted Rea living in thier house. Sure, it's about Chihiro being determined to help her and stuff, but Rea's a completely unknown girl and Chihiro's father let her live with them, pretty much just like that.

Beast of an OVA, nice background story on Chihiro and Rea and now you can't tell us that Chihiro's mom was not a zombie, damn. The bridge was probably the place of the accident Chihro and Mero had with their mom.

That bugged me so much xD

Also, I loved the movies he had with him, (and his others, too, from other episodes), and how they are just all parody titles of famous films. That always amuses me.

As for Rea's father, this episode did nothing to change my opinion of him. He's a scumbag who deserves to have Rea taken from him. However, this episode DID change my opinion of her Step-mother, for the worse.

I didn't like her step-mother much at all at first, as she reminded me of my own step-mother, but the room intrusion, that sealed it. It was a tad too similar to something my step-bitchmother did once. I personally loathe her far more than the father. The father's screwed up in the head, that's a given, but his wife, she's just a bitch.

Now, the bit with Chihiro remembering (ish) stuff that happened, and the bridge... I really wanna know what happened to his mother, now, and what that bridge means. After Mero's episode (9), and her reaction to Rea, and the fact that Mero's mom was cold, and bandaged... It's incredibly intriguing, especially since the nutty Grandfather wrote the resurrection book...

I've seen just about enough of Rea's perverted/possessive father and abusive mother by now. That aside, nice to see where Chihiro got the actual book about the zombie resurrection potion. I'm beginning to think that
Pretty surprised to see they've actually ran into each other at a hot spring seven months before they actually met.

Fact #1: Rea is absolutely gorgeous. A bit of a shame that she's now dead and slowly decomposing (even though she's still hot as hell as a zombie).

Fact #2: Rea's dad is a sicko of the worst kind. He's probably not a molester, given that he truly loves his daughter and probably doesn't want to hurt her physically. However, he loves her a bit too much for his own good, to the point where she becomes an obsession. Taking nude pictures of your daughter is already going a bit far, but it gets even worse when said child comes to the realization that it's making her uncomfortable. Even more so when you display the photos in your bathroom, doing who-knows-what to them when no one is looking.

Fact #3: Aria isn't merely annoying, she's downright cruel. Yeah, I understand that Rea is standing between you and your husband (who would probably never truly love her, even if Rea weren't there), but to go and punish her for that is going way too far. Even more so when you do it in a drunken state (which reminds me of my own stepdad, who I hate with a passion).

And I'm pretty sure it's safe to say that Chihiro and Mero's mother was a zombie, probably as a result from a car accident, given that they showed a closed-off bridge that apparently hasn't been used in years. I doubt we'll get to see that in the anime, though, even if they're dropping hints left and right throughout the entire show.

So Chihiro and Rea have met before, though they didn't get to look at each other's faces, else they probably would have remembered. Interesting how fate finally brought the two together a few months later.

I did not think it would be due to a car accident. However it makes sense that you mention the bridge closing because that goes back towards logic.

Perhaps she was a zombie the moment she died but was not administered the potion until that happened. Considering where the zombie book was it must have been done right away. She did live off a little then lost control and had to be killed off. As such the flashback suggests.

"That's why whenever I remember that trip, I think of my mother."

Very interesting side story. It appears Rea and Chihiro already did meet before, but may have not seen each other's faces in detail. This story also brings forward more evidence, and more questions about the zombie theory involving Chihiro and Mero's mother. We also get to see how Chihiro was actually able to get a hold of that book.

This wasn't in the manga, but any expansion of the backstory is good, considering that the mangaka himself is involved with the anime adaptation process.
