I haven't seen a new anime uploaded to Netflix instant streaming in a while. I think the latest one was Rosario + Vampire. Has Funimation stopped putting shows on there? I'd really consider dropping Netflix altogether if they didn't have some of the regular TV shows I want to watch.

I feel your pain. The selection on Netflix is pretty god awful, and you're right about Rosario + Vampire being the most recent one. It takes forever for anything new to be added.

Wasn't the latest one Seikon no Blacksmith? It was up for a limited time then went off and recently came back.

But yea, regardless, I've kinda run out of stuff to watch on it, that's why I'm streaming via PS3 browser... lmao.

I noticed that this thing called Crackle had some different anime on there (with limited commercials). They even had 12 Fate/Zero episodes. But I dunno. Netflix has been dropping the ball lately.

You can also find a lot of Funimation stuff on their Youtube channel. It's only 480p and there are start/end adverts, but you normally get a choice between Subbed and Dubbed.

Netflix hasn't been looking too strong lately in my book, if you've already seen a majority of what it has to offer so far.

I still use CR for a majority of my stuff.

Also you can find alot of Funi's shows on their website. They sometimes give you the sub or dub option it just depends on the show.

I have run into this problem as well. One of the main reasons i keep Netflix is due to their anime section, so it really needs to be updated a lot more frequently honestly. I know quite a few people who would subscribe to Netflix if it had a larger anime section. I've watched pretty much everything i wanted to on it. A lot of the older stuff i don't really care for IE Slayers, X, Monster(I think it's called?) Lupin, and a few other things. Wish they would add the second season of Spice and Wolf to Netflix, and i really Really REALLY wish they would add Shakugan No Shana

Really, the primarily reason I got it was because of the massive anime DVD collection. When I find out they treat each volume as a separate disc (come on, I'm not going to watch4-6 episodes of a show, and then wait 1-3 days for the next episodes.) I just ultimately give up on renting. And all I've seen on streaming was Fruits basket, Elfen Lied, and Spice and Wolf (dropped Spice and wolf but meh). Sure, I would've watched OHSHC, but I had seen it prior anyway. So in the end I only got two shows out of it -_-. I would've watched FMA as well, but the dubs just killed me. So I'll just watch that someday from a torrent.

A lot of anime expired on April 1, I believe. Which really is a shame. That's what I hate most about Netflix, they never tell you when a show expires until it's like a week before. And I downloaded Soul Eater because Netflix said it was expiring, and I was 10 or so eps in, and I look on Netflix now and here it is, still on there. I don't even get it. I definitely wouldn't keep Netflix if I only wanted to watch anime though.

Netflix is kind of limited to what is currently licensed in North America, or Western Europe or what ever branch you fall under. There are also often agreements with the licensee as to how long they can stream it. Back before anime was so accessible online, I had the maximum subscription with them and with a service Called Anime Takeout. That solved the two day wait between discs. It did take Netflix a while to catch on to the concept of sending series discs in order. Had several fights with them about that. They have less "fresh" anime to offer these days because fewer distribution rights are being bought. The slowdown started in 2006.

After once having the max subscription, I now have streaming and a one-out DVD because I've pretty much seen every anime they offer that I am interested in.

They aren't "bad". It's just that when it comes to anime, they are subject to restrictions that pirate and marginally legal sites aren't.

Edit: When something "expires" in your streaming queue, that doesn't mean it is gone for good. For a time it will only be available via DVD but eventually make its way back to streaming availability. One reason this happens is that a new streaming agreement has to be negotiated with the holder of the license. Happens with movies and TV series too.

Edit:

No service is going to look strong to an individual if the service is mainly comprised of things the individual has already seen.

Monster, Gankutsuou, Trigun, both FMAs, Gurren Lagann, Baccano!, Ouran High School Host Club, FLCL, Death Note, Mushishi, Macross Plus, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Eden of the East, Elfen Lied, Blood+, Last Exile, Gunslinger Girl, Dead Leaves, Ga-Rei Zero, Spice and Wolf, Clannad + After Story, Seirei no Moribito, Fruits Basket...

That's a fucking trove of great stuff.

Are you kidding? The dub is amazing. Also, please buy the DVDs and support Funimation as well as the other companies so they can continue putting out new material. However, do NOT support 4kids. They are an exception. Most companies have uncut DVDs with Japanese and English.

It is not only illegal but the anime companies suffer because of those sites. How can you claim you love these shows and the voice actors when you watch the shows illegally and hurt the companies? They will not make money and as a result they can't put out new material.

Netflix wasn't too bad for a while. If they would only switch in new stuff for the old stuff they're getting rid of. Funimation's youtube channel usually only has 4 episodes. Their online streaming site is good if you have a updated flash player...(cough Sony cough). Also it doesn't allow you to watch stuff not under funimation's license. Problem with torent sites is that yea they dont support the people who make the shows. Then again neither does buying a used hard copy. Also if you look at the amount of anime that gets canceled or left hanging mid season doesn't help the industry any. Yes i know that its all about money but in order to make money you need to keep your viewers happy, that doesn't happen if shows are dropped for whatever reason. What we really need is a online streaming site like netflix but purely for anime both sub and dubbed to keep everyone happy, keep the price about the same as netflix or hulu+.

They just took Baccano off stream... Guess I should say the right holders to the shows are irritating. They are the ones making netflix take the shows off...

Actually, some shows, including Baccano, are taken off because the licensing deals end, not because the ones who own the them "make them" remove the shows.

Just 1-2 weeks ago a bunch of shows & some movies...

Ah! My Goddess, Baccano, Birdy the Mighty Decode, Black Butler, Casshern Sins, Corpse Princess, D. Gray Man, Dragonaut, Eden of the East, Full Metal Panic, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Gun X Sword, Gunslinger Girl, Heat Guy J, Heroic Age, Hetalia, Initial D, Kenichi Mightiest Disciple, Linebarrels of Iron, Master of Martial Hearts, Moribito, Nabari no Ou, Naruto Movies, Negima, Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne, School Rumble, Sekirei, Sengoku Basara, Shin-chan, Shuffle, Slayers, Spice and Wolf, Strike Witches, Tokyo Maijin, Trigun and X...

...were taken off the American Netflix because the licensing deals expired, and Netflix doesn't seem too eager about renewing the deals or adding new titles.

You're lucky that Netflix where you live has such a large selection, as Flowlance mentioned the Scandinavian Netflix only has five Marvel "anime". ;p
(not that I really care that much, although I would like to see some anime movies on Netflix)
I would be happy if Netflix here had the amount of anime that was just removed from the American Netflix (as listed above), but that'd probably be asking for too much, as the demand here isn't as large here as it is in the US.

Companies should really get to improving and expanding their anime online distribution platforms, not to mention creating new, better ones altogether.

It's a pain when you want to support them, and you can't, and they complain that the industry needs more funds.

Ugh I know.... It's so annoying. I mostly either watch Angel Beats, Baka and test, HotD, OHSHC, Tears to tiara, and something else.... I forgot it's name.. but some bird tells a guy he's going to be a demon king in the future. Oh yeah, and Air Gear. I just mainly use it for running in the background while I'm on the computer.

Although, since I've watched subs for a bit...It's hard for me to find anything new to watch in English since I've already seen it in subbed. Although I like to watch it in English so I can see who they cast as the voices. The only gripe I have with the English series on Netflix is Tears to Tiara dub x_X... The main character's voice sounds... weird.. Other than that the rest of the series I watch on Netflix are pretty on par with their Japanese counterparts. Besides Angel Beats... English cast does a much better job.

I'd really like to see Shakugan No Shana or Index come to Netflix tbh. Dunno... I just really wish they'd update their list. I'm thinking about subscribe to Crunchyroll. Only problem is majority, if not all of their selection is subbed and sometimes I like to listen to what the characters are saying and just sit on the computer.
