I...I don't believe it. The last chapter seemed like something you end a series on, but I didn't think it was this close.

I am NOT okay with this....
Are you seriously just going to end it like this Akamatsu? There are so many PLOTHOLES left in this series you could bury the entire One Piece, Ippo, Conan, and Kochikame collections in there.

Well fuck it...unless you are the human embodiment of literature and arts I highly doubt this 3 chapter conclusion will be convincing.

Why are so many of you so surprised? I don't read Negima so I can't say I know what's happening, but from what I noticed when I skimmed through the most recent chapter (after reading this title), it looks like the end is obviously imminent.

Yeah, why are you guyz surprised? If you are reading the latest chapters, you should have saw this coming. It's obvious that the quality dropped after the Fate and Negi fight... Anyways I saw this coming and I think this is a wise decision.

This is way too soon... i can't honestly see how he can end it and leave the readers satisfied with that few chapters left...

Well it was a good run, hopefully it can have a solid ending. Even though the possibilities of that look grim with so little chapters to work with.

well whatever....if they cant go anywhere they should just stop. i mean the way it was going, if it was allowed to continue nearly all the characters would be scrapped save for a few. and a way around that would be too lame.

I can't really see this end if 3 chapters either. There are too many unanswered questions...

Unless...this story will end with a conclusion of now, and maybe a new story for 100 years later...

Or each of the 3 chapters are 100+ pages...

Don't you worry guys. There will be a sequel manga coming right afterwards, calling it now. ...probably only after at least few months, though. This guy has been making this manga for almost a decade, and needs some sort of an extended break.

I figure it's either a sequel or he's just got a new project lined up. He's been working on this thing for over a decade. Maybe he just wants to move on to something new.

I hear he's not as much a fan of the harem genre as he once was. Could be he's finally gotten permission to do a more straightforwards shonen action.

Well, I'm not TOO surprise as the ending has seemed pretty imminent lately, but this announcement is making me pretty sad. I would hope that Ken Akamatsu might make a sequel so as to continue the story and fill in the mentioned plotholes... Probably would be Negima!!

No, I am NOT a hater, Negima was once my favorite manga, but I've been so ashamed by how bad, generic, and ridiculous this manga has become.

It's so convoluted, it's no longer fun and I believe that Ken has no idea how the story should properly end.

I'm almost 100% sure we're going to get a half assed ending, and at this point I no longer care....GOODBYE!!

"Mahou SENSEI Negima!" is ending which is fitting because Negi is no longer a TEACHER.
That doesn't mean the Negima! series will end. The 3-A middle school saga ends and might come back as a sequel titled Negima! Chronicles or something of the like.
Kinda like Rosario+Vampire or To-Love-Ru with sequels R+VII and TLR: Darkness.

Hoping for NEGIxEVAx(CHACHAMARU), NEGIxMISA, or NEGIxKONOKAxSETSUNA.

HA!

Dude, thanks for the laugh, BTW you are crazy!

Let me give you a list of Shounen series that are much better than Negima:

The world God Only Knows

Beelzebub

Sora no Otoshimono

Rosario + Vampire Season II

To Love-Ru Darkness

Those are only a few I can think up at the top of my head.

Negima hasn't been good or interesting in a very long time, it's better for it to end now rather than dragging out a story that is no longer cohesive.

Oh and I saw a few spoilers for the next chapter....wow, we are heading for a disastrous Finale for this manga.

It's great when the story actually moves. But the joke chapters really interfere and can get downright annoying.

It's been downright terrible for the past 15/20 chapters or so. It's a shell of it's former glory.

ichigo03 said:

Pretty much just fanservice. It's nice that it actually has a plot now but still requires more to be great.

I disagree about Negima being not good or interesting any more. But I do admit that it's best to end it before it loses steam.

I disagree, I have seen on various forums how R+V readers are enjoying the arc that the manga is currently on, not to mention that unlike the first season, there is a strong story right now, rather than random fights within the school.

AidanAK47 said:

OK, I agree the joke chapters can get annoying, but that's the identity of the manga, it's sometimes all jokes and sometimes very serious, IMO it has a good balance of comedy and drama, I can't say the same for Negima.

Although Negima was great in it's first few arcs, everything has completely shattered every since all the nonsense from the end of the Magic world arc.

AidanAK47 said:

Well, if you remember at the beginning Negima was mostly fanservice with a thin plot, honestly it worked better that way.

Now it's so convoluted I highly doubt that the majority of the readers can properly know just what the hell this manga is even about.

AidanAK47 said:

I won't argue with your opinion to like Negima, however I don't believe anyone can properly say that Negima is at it's best right now.....because it's not.

I once thought Negima was an excellent manga which was very creative with great characters and artwork.

Now when I think of Negima, I think of it as if it's on the same realm of Bleach and Naruto.

That's not good....frankly, I'm very happy this is ending, before it completely ruins itself.

Hell, I might still think of it as a "Good" manga if the ending is good.....although to be honest, I highly doubt that Ken can save this manga with just 3 chapters left :/

Honestly, I thought Negima peaked during School Festival Arc. It hasn't been all that good for 100+ chapters. It was at its best when it was focused on the romantic comedy/ harem aspect but then it transformed to a mediocre battle manga. Overall, I believe Negima is still one of the better harem manga out there but it had potential to be much more. I'll still miss this manga, I remember marathoning the first 150+ chapter like a madman...Good times.

Agreed, I thought that was the best arc of this manga and at that point the story was still very fluid and fun.

BlackKnight27 said:

Ken Akamatsu has always been about Romance comedy/harem, that's what made Love Hina such a great manga, and Negima at the beginning looked like it was much better than Love Hina.

I don't necessarily think it was the battles that brought it down, IMO, it was that he made the story more and more complicated, during the Magic world arc it just became so damn confusing and it lost all it's factors that had made this manga so great.

BlackKnight27 said:

There's a big problem with your statement....Negima hasn't been a "harem manga" since the school festival arc. Ever since then it turned into pure Battle shounen with very confusing plot elements.

Although, I agree that Negima had the potential to be so much more, it's quite sad really.

This manga will end with a thousand plot holes and it probably will never accomplish it's initial task.

Just look at all the things that have yet to be accomplish:

I seriously can't believe that Ken will fill up these plot holes with just 3 chapters left.

Only TWGOK is as good or better than Negima.

When I wrote down those manga, I am going by how "good" the stories are.

Negima's story is NOT good at all, it makes no sense and has failed to accomplish it's objectives.

We have 3 chapters left and yet there are many open ended questions that will probably never be answered.

I understand that Negima is popular and it does have a good cast of characters, but strictly speaking about the plot....it has FAILED, big time!

Whether or not R+V II, TLR Darkness, Sora no Otoshimono are likable or popular is NOT the point.

The story for all those manga are cohesive, it's well put together, it combines ecchi and plot (Just like Negima) except they are doing it much better, at least I believe so.

Negima IMO failed as a manga because it dragged on too long and the story became convoluted, there is no doubt about that.
