UPDATE: MARCH 27, 2008

Saimoé - a word that can be divided into two parts: the former, meaning ultimate, and the latter, derived from the verb "moeru", to burn with passion.

Since 2002, the Saimoe contest generated beautiful battles, as thousands of anime-lovers around the world gave their all to ensure that their favorite girl will win. This prestigious battle has long since defined the term "moé". Champions from young girls emerged, and they gave way to glory. In 2006, this prestigious contest became even more prestigious, expanding from the land of the Rising Sun to lands from the four corners of the world. Not only did Japan garner attention, but so did Korea, and for the past couple of years, the contest has become unique, one of a kind contest that has long since given attention to names - names that will be inscribed in Saimoe history forever.

However, Saimoe tournaments of Korea and Japan have also received much criticism from the disappointed. The single-elimination tournaments held in Japan and Korea were decided at random, and while only the best were able to enter, randomized pairings shattered dreams of many, and raised hopes for others. In the end, only the best of all girls survived.

Now, it is time for the innovation, the experience and the glory of the new age. 64 have been chosen to take part in the first round robin league, where the top 16 girls will move on to the double-elimination tournament for one of the most prestigious titles in the world. Now, 63 matches await each. All that is left now is to do battle. With a immensely elite field, many questions remain to be answered.

Is Clannad the new dominance in Saimoé, or does that feat still belong to Hayate no Gotoku?

Can old-timer Cardcaptor Sakura actually compete with the new girls?

Could Haruhi Suzumiya finally get that elusive Saimoé tiara, or will China champion Konata Izumi stop her very idol?

Will Suiseiseki bring Rozen Maiden back from the void to win her third title, or will Shana join her greatest rival as a multi-champion?

This is the first year we're running this special event! Now go make a difference!

We are currently looking for help to run this league, such as technical support (resume required), character profile writers, and especially translators, namely, translators fluent in Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. If anyone is interested, PM me or e-mail me at hendrickfan66@yahoo.com.

*To moderators: I did PM Xinil about this and have not gotten an official response. If this post violates any rules (and I did read them beforehand), please contact me immediately.

Heck, yeah, it's serious business.

It will be 64 round robin, then top 16 from there will go on to double-elimination, which should be one heck of a tourney.

Anyway, it would be awesome to see you guys participate. Also, there's a new blog on the news page concerning job openings. If you wish to help out with the league, just contact me.

Yeah... I remember. But I've reformed from that a while back. Now I'm actually doing a Saimoe event myself.

B-but, THEY are the reason.

I see it on the standings page fine. But I did make a mistake in posting the announcement before actually publishing the website. If there is any more problems, let me know.

I know that, what I meant was it's kinda interesting to see that even yesterday's moe can still get more nominations than the others. Yey for Sakura \\(^_^)//

I looked at anizone's forums (Korea Best Moe hosts) via a google translation and from what I have been gathering - they have been complaining about international authenticity of this tournament for it being an English site. I've been trying to make a statement that I wish to get translated to reach out to the Japan and Korea voters.

Huge huge news surrounding ISML. For the most part, nomination standings are released, the contest has been postponed until April 1st, nominations will re-open to the public on February 21st with an end date TBA, there's a test poll coming tomorrow, website will be changing, and so and so.

Oh, and I'm seriously thinking about locking Kyou in before the second round of nominations start.

Okay, the test poll date has finally been announced officially:

Monday, March 10 @ 6:00 PM EST
#1 Suiseiseki (RM) vs. #5 Fate Testarossa (NA)
Souseiseki (RM) vs. Nanoha Takamichi (NA)

I'll continue to make updates as much as I possibly can.

Considering how wrong I am, I should have taken into account who was actually participating, and the lack of Japan and Korea votes (none, I think) cost the Rozen Maiden dolls in this one. Turn out wasn't good, so I'm changing focus on what I should do.

It was Fate 36, Suiseiseki 18. Nanoha 36, Souseiseki 15. There were a handful of abstinence votes.

Anyway, the second test poll match is up. I'm also trying extra hard to revamp the website and make it more appealing to attract voters, and I think I also have to give some of the other forums a reminder as well.

While all the match hype is going on, did we forget nominations now? Nomination standings have been updated, both the "image" of the top 40 as well as the excel file itself. They are up for download at the website.

And just to keep you up to speed - Nia Teppelin has been penalized 170 points for a multi-voting scandal from Monterrey, Mexico, which is in danger of getting their IP region banned...
