I'm a member of Video Ezy in Grey Lynn and Mount Albert, and both have some anime on DVD and VHS. Video Ezy Mount Albert was the first place I started renting shows from almost a decade ago. Civic Video in Grey Lynn also has anime, but I'm not a member there. :D Movieshack is good for online DVD rental, they have a decent range of shows. http://www.movieshack.co.nz |

JB Hi Fi has a big selection of anime. I know theres one in Westfield manukau, thats where I get almost all of my dvds. I'm not sure where the rest of them are though. Also, there are two Borders in Auckland, one in the Skycity Metro on Queen Street and one in Sylvia Park. Theres another store in Skycity Metro Queen Street Called Vagabond that has a lot of figures (especially Gundam figures) and a decent selection of dvds. They also have an online store at www.vagabond.co.nz Theres a Gamesman in Sylvia park as well that gets new anime in very quickly. Also, in wellington theres Pulsar Max, in Manners Mall that have a big selection of figures and manga. |

You know, if you have a PIN for your library card, you can just place a hold on the manga you want off the Christchurch City Libraries website and they'll bring it in for you from whatever library has it. =] (Although normally I don't bother with that unless it's something I really want - otherwise I end up having to go down to the library every two days or so to pick more stuff up. xD But it's better than running all over the city trying to find what you want.) And if you want to buy manga, the only place that has a really good selection is Borders. There's one in Christchurch (at Westfield Riccaton) and I think one in Auckland too. They have some anime too, but never exactly what you want. xD |

This is such a wonderful thread :D Christchurch: Borders: Westfield Riccarton, 129 Riccarton RD. Whitcoulls (not much in store, but there website is good!): http://www.whitcoulls.co.nz/store-locator Comics Compulsion (almost no manga, but a good selection of well-priced comic books): 181 Manchester St. They are near an area of Manchester street that was especially damaged in the earthquake, but they themselves ARE open still :) GameStation (these guys rent out AND sell heaps of anime, and they sell figurines and the like as well!): 3/7 Pilgrim Place. Just off Moorhouse Ave, right behind Hoyts! And best of all , just learnt about this place recently. It is honestly so amazing: http://www.animegarden.co.nz/ <-------- So highly recommended!!! ♥ |

Um, I once went down Queen Street in Auckland around 2007 and there was a small manga store down there. I went inside, but unfortunately, I was with someone and could only look for like..2 seconds, so I don't know what type of manga they had or what it was called. It might not even still be there. Unfortunately, I also live in a an area that is classed as a 'city', but is just not big enough for any manga stores. None of the book stores I have ever been in have ever had any manga. I have never seen anything manga related ANYWHERE in store. Apart from the book store BORDERS, which is now gone being owned by Barnes and Noble now. I don't know if Barnes and Noble will sell Borders manga in store. They do online though. I was sad because I loved Borders. They had excellent manga, I never looked it at the manga section though, as I wasn't into it at the time. Which is a bummer. One time I did, but that was it. The only place I get my manga online is from Book Depository. The prices are pretty good and the shipping is FREE! Unfortunately, they will not have every title. But they also have titles in different languages. It's a trust-worthy site and extremely popular. I haven't had any trouble with them. One time I paid for a book and they couldn't get it in, I emailed and they refunded me. Which was excellent! There is also the library as well. You can ALSO search up books using the libraries search. Type in a certain book you want, and it will show up where it is located. I done this for a book I wanted (non-manga) and they will ship it to your library. The only downside is that you have to pay a $10 fee for them to import it to your library. |
