I have an account on AnimeSuki that I was introduced to by a friend from MAL, but I haven't posted there in ages and I was never active on it. I don't go on other anime forums because I don't really come here to discuss anime, and because I don't really know anywhere that would suit me better. |

I don't. This site seems to have every single anime I've come across, and I only need this site in order to keep track of anime I've watched and plan to watch. Thus, I have no need for another. |

I have finally settled here in MAL forums. There's a lot more interesting people, adequate moderation and better discussions held. Of course, I'm only comparing that to Crunchyroll ('CR')forums. I started using CR back in 2011; I thought it was a bit of a haven. I only joined for the anime but I warmed up to others on the forum. I met a lot of pleasant users and got on well. I had a ton of fun on CR.The problem I have is that all I read is dribble and SPAM. There's so many users joining every day and there's so little moderation. Everyone just posts the most banal things. No one can hold a good discussion nor can they contribute well. I've always tried to elaborate my posts on CR, only to realise it's all in vain. At least on MAL, I see less of this, and I see more people try to be more comprehensive. But I'm not saying it's perfect. I just think there's more maturity. (Hold the laughter, please :P) Don't get me started on when people discuss their favourite anime. Instead of typing anything, they just post large images of their beloved animu and expect us to know what the hell they're talking about. I still use CR from time to time. But it looks as if I'm staying here for much longer than I have with any other forum (ANN forums was my worst experience, I might add). There are certain users on here, I won't name names, who post such interesting contributions and I learn a lot from them. Modified by GloriousHawk, 07-18-12, 4:20 PM |

Just wondering, why were the ANN forums your worst expierence? I hardly ever use them, mostly because most of the time there's a huge debate going on that doesn't even relate to the thread topic and I feel intimidated. I prefer the MAL forums over CR and ANN, though. |

I've joined so many forums in my lifetime to confidently say that's the worst place I've ever joined. |

I use Anime-Planet. I like its layout more than MAL but this site has lots of great functions that you can't find there! |

I use Animetake. I think it's like here; some of the community is generally friendly and others aren't. I like it though. Topics there aren't as diverse as here, but I think the anime episode discussion threads on animetake have more interaction and discussion between viewers/posters. |

There are worse places than MAL, for sure. Gaia, Crunchy Roll and -most likely- ANN. |

I use MAL for the most part, although I have accounts in various others. Crunchyroll, ANN, baka, and so on. I stick with MAL because the quality is higher (imo) than sites like crunchyroll, but low enough that I can understand what's being said. So essentially I like MAL, because the content is typically mediocre which makes me feel smart. =P But seriously, I like MAL because it's more laid back than some other places I have frequented. Majority of my posts here are well received (or ignored) and do not lead to asinine arguments. I do like the baka forums as well, and the content is usually worth reading, but it's just not as active. Modified by rekindledflame, 07-18-12, 5:48 PM |

I have lurked a little of Anime Planet, but it didn't catch me at all. Nobody cares to discuss there, all I can find are character tourneys and "what is your favorite anime?" typical threads that only seem to look for fast answers. They are good if you feel in the mood, but I just can't base my whole activity in a forum on them, it ends up being boring. I actually like MyAnimeList. With its cons, of course, but seeing how many other anime forums are (not just Anime Planet), I actually appreciate this place for encouraging discussion and well thought out posts, from a relatively high number of boarders. |

I'm only really active on this site, I like it mostly because of the site layout. I've tried anime planet and other sites but they just aren't as active and the layouts just don't look as good. Crunchyroll got on my nerves because of the horrible way the site is moderated...which is hardly ever. The annoying ads all over place trying to make me apply for their memberships doesn't help either. As far as members are concerned Crunchyroll felt a lot more annoying like it was filled with preteen fanboys and fangirls. There weren't that many in-dept discussions about topics (though it's not like MAL has that many in depth discussions but more so than CR.) CR forums are just flooded with topics like which characters look hotter, who's your favorite couple and a million of the same topics...please kill me now. Being 27 I felt a little too old to be on that site lol. Modified by Abbyrose, 07-18-12, 7:03 PM |

Crunchyroll is nice and tame, it's a forum for a younger age group, which is fine. And ANN is on the opposite site of the spectrum. Everyone on there is pretty much 'comic book guy' from the Simpsons. |

Nope, unless you can count /a/ as an 'anime forum'. That and MAL are the only two communities I frequent at all -- the rest of my socializing comes from Steam and MSN and what not. Frankly, a lot of anime forums are revolting to me. I like being able to speak my mind here unabated and say when something annoys me without getting swarms of hate directed at me just because I moved away from the opinion of the majority. I like that most people here have seen a decent amount of anime, often putting me to shame. I don't want to go to an anime community where people abuse emoticons, are under 16 years old, and think that Angel Beats and AnoHana are life-changing masterpieces. This is sadly what 90% of them are like. ![]() |

Used to be a member of ANN but I kinda felt that most moderators there and some members were being a bit of elitists, so I moved away. :P |

I'm a regular on the gamefaqs OT boards and I've lurked there on and off for 6 years. It used to be great, but now it seems as though a good amount of the regulars there don't watch anime anymore and just go to social. it's different from MAL because it's a small community where all posters know each other. Also, shows that are popular here and other places are hated there(think Anohana, Elfen Lied, KEY). |
