| Cross Game is a great mention. Upon watching the first episode, I immediately put the anime on hold because it was, at that moment, I realized Cross Game was a really special show that needed my full attention and a lot of time to watch. This also applies to Kaiba and Aria the Animation, which I also held off for similar reasons. For something that I've actually completed, Hanasaku Iroha's first episode still lingers in my mind. That first episode still remains as one of the most impactful openings to any anime I've seen. From the initial wistful ponderings to the final scene loaded with emotional turmoil, it seemed like everything I could have asked for from a slice of life drama. |

Hyouge Mono if memory serves me well, has the same qualities as Space Brothers and how it captured me with it's first episode. |

| KLK, that opening scene is legendary, and the battle with the boxing club president is one of my favorites. However, the show that had the best first episode relative to the rest of the show was Yuki Yuna is a Hero. Opened with good characterization, transformations, and CGi that actually wasn't garish. It really lost its charm after that. |

| Tatami Galaxy, OPM have great first episodes. But to me the winner is Kill la Kill, i was completely hooked by the first episode, and it's rare, very rare. |

| I loved Haikyuu's first episode, it was really entertaining and hooked me immedeatly. Barakamon's first episode was really good too, it showed perfectly the vibe of the anime |
