Is is recommended to watch the series first or the OVA first?

try watching the ova first to see if you like the "vibe" of it.
The series will work things out more.. (like with Sky Girls and the Sky Girls OVA)

In Demonbane's case, it's better to watch firstly the OAV, then the anime.
