If anyone ever bothered to pay attention, Pokemon has been setting records all over the world since its conception. This latest development is only surprising since the primary and strongest fanbase which existed between 1997 - 2000 have now grown up and mostly it's fewer kids (and hardcore Pokemon fans such as myself) who still pay attention to it in the West. The East is a different story though. Pokemon gets the love and reverence it deserves in Japan. |
