I'm quite satisfied with the ending. I do think people will have mix feelings though. In all, I enjoyed the series. I initially watched it because it was visually appealing but I ended up being captivated by the plot. So yeah, ef has ended! Hopefully they'll make an anime for "The Latter Tale."

awesome.

I never thought of Chihiro not being able to not think of renji for 13 hours. like, after that she couldn't just fall asleep for 13 hours and forget about him. Plus she could dream about him too.. wah, that's so awesome.

also, kei wasn't a complete bitch in the end, so I don't hate her anymore. Miya is superior though :P

T_T its over.

Fantastic episode. I am so happy for Chihiro and Renji. I absolutely loved the scene where Chihiro's chains broke when Renji told her that he'll be with her. Just beautiful.

Overall: 10/10

Wow. I'm really happy with the way they wrapped it all up. Glad that they at least confirmed somewhat why Himura was always at the church. Definitely worthy of a 10/10 and a place in my top 5. I am sad that it's over, I have one less anime to look forward to weekly, and it happened to be one of the best. Definitely glad I stumbled on it randomly a couple months ago.

A fantastic ending. I can't find a single flaw in this anime. I'm astounded. The visuals were perfect, music was excellent, the story was stunning, everything about it is a direct path to success. This anime easily makes the top of the season list. The only anime I think is better would be 5 centimeters per second.

I think the most fantastic thing about this episode wasn't how Renji crossed land and sea and the skies for Chihiro's memories. Or how the characters seemed to evolve without us even noticing. Or how the end for the anime is actually the beginning of the visual novel, with the paper plane flying and the glorious Yuukyuu no Tsubasa playing.

It was the opening, where every girl that was supposed to be alone was caught into the arms of those who love them. That was so beautiful and unexpected, I was at a loss.

Like others have said before me, this anime has few flaws. Some may criticize the visuals, the pacing, the drama or the corny words. But this is a work of art, simply something so beautiful that came out of a visual novel like many others and succeeded where many others have failed. I love how Kei and Hiro remain friends. What kind of friendship would it be if it fell just like that? I love how Miyako doesn't mind Kei. What kind of lover would she be?

I love how Renji's first words in his novel were some of the first words he uttered in the first episode. It's like a circle. A cycle that never ends. The cycle of their lives, our lives.

Very few anime managed to touch and connect to real feelings. And for managing that, ef deserves a 10.

Congratulations, SHAFT. That was the best ending I've seen in a great while.

It's heart-warming and makes me happy but I also feel sad since this is the last episode of ef.

ef = Eternal Feather. Like the game Op, yuukyuu no tsubasa = eternal feather. Euphoric Field was a play with the initials, and a very smart and nice one at that.

An interesting fact I just found out is that the Yuukyuu no Tsubasa thay plays as the ED theme for this episode was sung by Yuko's seiyuu.

Future animes will have a tough time trying to surpass this ending...(I'm looking at you Clannad, don't let me down!) To me, everything about this episode just flowed so well...

First we get treated to the Japanese version of Euphoric Field accompanied by a new OP animation, then to different instrumental versions of Yuukyuu No Tsubasa throughout the episode, then we get a TV-edit version of the whole song for the ending! Tenmon is god...

We get some nice closure to the tale of Chihiro/Renji, I'm kinda irked that it lasted longer than the HiroHiro/MiyaMiya tale though xD

The epilogue was even done to my satisfaction! We got some HiroHiro/MiyaMiya screen time, some Renji/Chihiro, then the hinted Kei/Kyosuke budding relationship! Every main character got the ending that they deserve, plus the Yuuko/Himura reunion presumably to garner interest in the game. Everything that should have gone right did, major props to SHAFT!

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this fairy tale of the two...I hope those who watched this feels the same way I do.

To those who may hate on this anime for whatever reason, remember that the whole premise is based off of a fairy tale. If you don't know what a fairy tale means, go grab a dictionary or something.

Edit:
Was hoping the 'd' would be a special ova episode on the DVD or something. Shame it wasn't, but its still good:-)

Would never have seen that one. The ending felt a little empty near the middle, but picked up the end when she couldn't forget about him. Glad it ended like this, and not with some retarded cop-out (*myself;yourself). Congratz Shaft, amazing series. I hope they do an ova that tells us what happens after.

I'm pretty sure its Yuukyuu no Tsubasa...Euphoric Field isn't accompanied by a violin solo. Listen at around 13:15, thats definitely Yuukyuu no Tsubasa.

Edit:
Ah screw it I'm confused now...
It does sound like Euphoric Field...

You're right. I think I was just thinking on Euphoric Field because the new OP amazed me XD

EDIT: Actually watching it again, it's a mix of Euphoric Field AND Yuukyuu no Tsubasa. Listen closely to the moment Renji starts picking up the pages.

Just makes it all the more amazing, doesn't it? XD

You know what? We NEED the OST.

Haha yeah you're right...its Euphoric Field until 13:15...

Its confusing since they are using the tracks from the full version of the song while we usually only get to listen to the TV-Edits.

Still not sure though...you are right that its Euphoric Field...but I'm hearing some Yuukyuu No Tsubasa too...then again tenmon did compose both pieces...ahhh:S

hmm things with this Euphoric Field are getting messed up, some facts here I know for sure:

for the anime... wow. SHAFT did it and made something wich is equal to what kyotoani makes and maybe somewhere even better. I was rooting for this anime even before it was aired and it did meet all of my expectations.
Lets see what the next anime will be made by SHAFT, I might make a listdesign for it and root for it from the start again ^__^

Care to be more specific as to what part it plays on? In my ears, I heard the violin/piano part playing numerous times (might be going crazy btw). The discussion is whether it was Euphoric Field or Yuukyuu (not typing that long thing again). It sounds like it was Euphoric then going to Yuukyuu as the violin piece ends.

A very awesome ending. I didn't think everything would turn out so well!

All in all, a very wonderful show. I really should have watched this when it first aired, instead of going through the first 10 episodes in 2 days. SHAFT have produced two outstanding shows this year (SZS and ef), both very different and unique, which fits with their style. An easy 10/10, and it will replace BGC 2040 on my Top 5.

The scene when everyone was on the roof speaking about their dreams and such was so great. It's sad to see one of the greatest series out there end. This is definetly in my top 5! Also the change in the OP was great. Good to know no one is alone in the end.

Very good ending, though I actually kind of hoped they would tell us more about Yuko. I guess we'll have to wait until after the second tale. Which will be in 2008.. So the anime, probably, sometime in 2009, or so.

It's definitely one of the most beautiful anime I have seen. :) So it will be now the second favorite of mine. :)

My one gripe about the series is Renji. The Raki (from Claymore) seiyuu annoyed me to no end, especially since both were naive and seemingly hopeless. The character design just irritated me though I have no problems with the plot. If it weren't for that, I'd give it a 10/10, but even so, I'd say it's the best show of the season.

The story in this show wasn't amazingly original, but the way it was visualized was really impressive. The whole metaphor of Chihiro and the chains was really well thought out, and the countdown scene in an earlier episode is probably one of the most memorable in any anime.

I'm kind of surprised the ending was as happy as it turned out to be. A lot of shows like this have really bad endings. Tying up loose ends and giving all the characters closure can often be a little sappy, I think it played out well here. I wish more shows ended with everyone together and happy.
