Watch that not actually be L and L is actually someone who was watching from a distance the whole time! But Rem and L dead, man, I can't believe it! How does this anime have 12 more episodes? ![]() "I like to expose what people hide. I'm an intellectual rapist." - Furudo Erika |

As far as I am concerned, I just finished my 5th run of Death Note. The series completely dies from this part on. I would suggest watching the next episode, then skip to the end. Here is what you will miss: I'll see you at the finale. |

Epic episode. Everything that was added into this episode not in manga was really cool. Random foot massage, but oh well. So.....now the L Arc is over. Compared to the manga, it seems like there should be more episodes left to cover all of the N Arc. Oh well, can't wait to get it started. |

I already knew about L's death even before I started to watch death note that's why every episode I was sad for him but this episode was just wow it killed something inside me when they make L so nice and then he dies. Death note is not going to be the same I know it. |

Oh man, really sad the L died without saying anything really special. Since I was spoilered to when L dies, all I had to do was imagining the way he dies. When a shinigami dies, the remaining life time goes back to the person he saved, right? Well, then Misa has more life time once again. Since I don't dislike her, it's good to see that. And well, Kira is back. |

It's sad. But I really like Light and L's talk in the rain. "Tears are handy for washing away troubling and sad feelings. But when you grow up, you'll learn that there are things so sad, they can never be washed away by tears. That there are painful memories that should never be washed away...." - Obi, Hajime [Gintama': Enchousen] |

Fantastic episode. The Biblical allusion is evident---the one people miss is the Macbeth imagery. I found L scrubbing Light's foot to parallel Lady Macbeth trying to wash her hands---the difference obviously being that LM couldn't rid herself of the blood on her hands, whereas L fails in ridding Light of the blood on his hands. Of course, as Macbeth killed Banquo with an assassin, Light killed the one friend he had with his own form of assassin (and they were absolutely friends while Light wasn't murderous). I'm curious to see if there are any more Macbeth parallels (the morbidity of Misa, as well as the lack of joy at the end, certainly fits Lady Macbeth well) as that's my prediction of Light's downfall. |

As another point of interest, I loved the opening "silent" introduction. There was so much to gather, like the religious imagery + machinery in the beginning being unable to quell the crying of L (whose parents were clearly killed). From there we draw an excellent parallel from L to Misa, and the divergent paths they took. There's also my theory that like Nietzsche said, God is dead. Religion didn't help L, and so he was driven to solve crime. (Contrast to the life of Light, who also wanted to be a detective but without any real reason why.) It's why the religious imagery of the foot-washing scene fails, Light doesn't learn the humility Jesus tried to instill in his disciples and this causes his downfall. Considering the rest of the show is someone wicked claiming to be God, L publicly declaring that there must not be an omniscient God, and Japanese gods (shinigami) wreaking havoc on Earth, and this show makes a strong case against religion. |
