Oh yeah, I totally forgot to mention the animation. Well done. Sure, could have been better, but they even showed the clarinet TRILL. I played the Saxophone in HS, so their animation for the note trill was sweet. :)

i found out about this show yesterday (thank god sorairo recommended this to me) and i watched like 8 episodes in a row and finally caught up to episode 14...i still remember episode 11 (iirc, it was the one where chiaki plays the piano concerto with stresseman conducting) and yeah, this episode was awesome...

Chiaki is so hot! If only he was real!

The anime is pretty accurate, I play the piano and most of the positions where his hands are ... are where they should be if he was actually playing that piece. That was some good work by the animators.

I need to stop watching this otherwise when I get to ep 18 or so I'll be left hanging ... AARGH when's the next episode out?

this was a beautiful episode! The animation to it was lovely, I love how they actually play what they are supposed to be playing, and not just some random movement. And the music was beautiful too.

I think I just died and was reborn. This episode was simply breathtaking. Actual movement in the animation, and the music reached your soul and took you into this dream world the whole time it was going on. All I could do was watch and listen, for that moment I didn't do or think about anything else. This was quite simply one of the best anime episodes I have ever seen. It alone is enough to guarantee Nodame Cantabile a place in my top five. I adored this episode.

Rachmaninov's Piano concert Nº2. Oh my god, i was just so absorbed in Chiaki's performance that, actually, i think i even cried. It was so beautifull, gorgeus, fantastic, and even more than can't be put on words. The CGI scenes were just fantastic, i still can't believe that i was that absorbed by such song. To be exactly i was like that guy who fainted on tears. This was simply one of the bests anime episodes i've seen in my life.

That doesn't change the fact that i still don't like Chiaki, but that flawless masterpiece was just incredible, impecable, oh god.

OMG What a Great Episode!!!!!!!! the animation was very accurate but what impressed me the most was the interpretation. I've heard a lot of Rachamaninov 2nd performances but this one was unique. I really wanna know the name of the real pianist.
By the way, for those who don't know rachmaninov and liked the concerto, they showed only one movement in this anime. Rachmaninov 2nd concerto has other 2 movements that are just as beautiful as the first one. And you guys should also check the Rachmaninov 3rd concerto as well. Its gorgeous! it is considered to be the hardest piano concerto ever written.
I'm learning the Rachmaninov 1st concerto, its not as hard as the 3rd but is harder than the 2nd one xD

Until now, I thought they were just being lazy to not animate movement while people are playing instruments... but maybe they were just saving it up to make this ep more special. Watching the hands move across the instruments was amazing. Loved it.

One of the reasons that Nodame Cantabile has a really dear spot in my heart
is that it took real risks with its presentation and was incredibly
brave for it. Imagine, a whole episode of anime is about 24 minutes long, which
includes the opening and ending songs @ 1.5 min. each. So 21 minutes of
story and plot each night.

Knowing this, they air EIGHT SOLID MINUTES of Rachmaninoff without editing.

The end result is beautiful, and I love them for it.

I'm very glad to see someone else point out the same remarkable element of this episode. It amuses me that in a thread that was opened almost three years ago, the point I wanted to make was finally made just before my post.

This show has hooked me.

My only previous exposure to Rachmaninoff was in the movie, The Seven Year Itch. The music in this episode and throughout the series so far, has been wonderful. As also mentioned above, I'm glad that the animation of the playing was so well done in this episode.

Nice! I'm not sure I heard Rachmaninov piece before but it had some really sweet parts. Some of the anime caused me to laugh though like the guy crying a river & Nodame still in the mongoose suit.

I wonder if I tripled my piano practice if I'd get this good in a year or two, lol.

Freaking-A I want a pet Nodame.

Best performance yet. It's so much more interesting to watch when they actually show movements and not just still pictures. Chiaki pwned on the piano. Second half of the episode was hilarious too.

AMAZINGGGGGGGGG. The Concerto was absolute love.

And then the Saiko/Chiaki/Nodame thing. I felt so so bad for Saiko, it seems like she cares about Chiaki. Chiaki and Nodame would make such a cute couple, though :|

Great episode and the fact that JC Staff was ballsy enough to show 8 straight minutes is pretty damn awesome.

Beautiful music indeed. 8 mins of goodness, too bad it wasn't the entire first movement.

I actually went online to search for the score and made notes while listening to the interpretation in this episode - i must be going insane i haven't done this in 2 years.

Wow. I was completely blown away.

I think those 8 minutes of incredible concert were the most exceptional 8 minutes I’ve ever spent in my life. Everything was top-notch; animation, music, impact. Definitely, one of the best episodes I’ve seen. There’s nothing more to say.
I think, then procrastinate.
Therefore, I am.

What a godlike episode.

I know 8 minutes is a long time for an anime to haev a "concert" but it felt so short because it was really good.

The ending of this episode was hilarious too.

The orchestra sounded just awesome. I'm sorry that I'm not into classical music so that I could appreciate it more. But it seems that Chiaki and Stresserman do work well together (at least when one of them is sober!)
Really good episode and I hope that it does get better from here.
