I just finished watching Ga-rei zero and reading the first chapter of the manga.

sadly, for me the whole show makes no sense at all. I found myself skipping 1 or 2 mins every now and then in the 2nd half of the series, and I cant get into the characters' sadness at all (it may sound disturbed, but I almost always start laughing when they cry, I wonder why...)

Well, it's good that you know the reason why you can't relate to the characters is entirely your fault.

And also, laughter is a perfectly valid response. GRZ is, for me, partly a black comedy, so hey, laugh away!
