Of course, next season there will be three more animes produced by Shaft. (Zan sayonara Zetsubou Sensei, Bakemonogatari, Shina Dark) But since no one can watch them now they don't count here.

I don't think Shina Dark airs next season... nor do I think it has a set date for airing at all yet.

Anyway, definitely SZS. ef is very closely #2 though.

I wouldn't call all those "produced" by SHAFT. Sometimes they just did drawings for other studios when they had no work of their own.

Also personally I'm more of a Shinbou fan and couldn't say what makes the earlier works eligible to be listed as particularly SHAFTy.

Hard to say. I like all SHAFT anime i watched so far. Like Wile "I'm more of a Shinbou fan" (all his anime from Pani Poni Dash! was great). For me, best anime from Shaft B.S (Before Shinbou) was REC. Summary: No vote from me at this moment.

First, is true, second, well it was actually pretty fun, but ef is clearly The greatest I've seen from SHAFT. (And Natsu no Arashi was pretty fun in the same way too, although it was pretty mindfuck in the end : D)

Although now when we're half-way into the summer season, I'll say ef is still The best, and Bakemonogatari is close behind, they're really great, both of them : D

It's really unfair to be made to choose between the SHAFT anime. While Zetsubou is like a elegant rapier, watching Pani Poni Dash is like being whacked repeatedly with a giant Hammer until your brain is all mush. Then there is the great Bakemonogatari. Ef is the greatest visual novel adaption. I loved REC and right now I can't think of another romance anime that captivated me like this. Damn I even think This Ugly Yet Beautiful World is nice because it was one of the first anime I've ever watched and I still sometimes think about it.

Shinbou directed most of the good SHAFT anime anyway. And he directed some of the bad ones, like Natsu no Arashi. (IMO) But I like most of his works though.

Now I think that this thread I made is very pointless cause it lacks bakemonogatari, vampire bund and arakawa under the bridge plus more upcoming animes, or better: there are always newer animes that can surpass the older ones, obviously. I mean since Senjougahara Fascination there are even more people knowing about SHAFT. Yeah right. Some are joint production with Gainax for instance.

he is my master, maria holic, hidamari and ef are great shows too
