Well it has happen apparently three times now. Our current sun is probably third generation based on the composition. This means that there have been three supernovas that had to have happened to create our existence. Imagine the civilizations that have been wiped out.

Third generation implicitly means that there were two supernovae before, not three ;)
However, you need at least two more of them to create shockwaves to form the protostars from blown away nebulae.
And why pointing the civilizations to prosper in this tiny corner of the universe subsequently one after another?
Supernovae in the Universe explode more often than humans are born.
So many apocalypses. Such dramatic fate!
