Update
According to Yomiuri Online, Kurimoto Kaoru had already written Guin Saga up to the volume 129 and volume 130 halfway. She gave up writing the novel on April 23rd and was hospitalized on May 7th. Hayakawa Shobo will publish the incomplete volume 130 as well as the remaining volumes 127 - 129.

Guin Saga was applied to Guinness World Records for the longest novel record in 2004, but was rejected because Guinness judges considered that it's not a single book.

Kurimoto sensei, may you rest in peace...

She posted an entry in her web diary on April 28th. That was her last comment. She said she was pleased with the success of his husband's surgery. But she was a bit irritated that she couldn't work as much as she wanted due to the bad condition of her health.

The volume 127 of Guin Saga novel was scheduled to be released in June. It's unknown that it will be released as scheduled. It's certain that Guin Saga novel ended incomplete.

Same here. Though I've already read a couple of chapters of the manga.
It's such a big loss. The Guin Saga manga left incomplete.

Sorry to hear..

By the way, not that it is important or anything, does it mean that the Guin Saga will have no endings? I am assuming that the novel isn't finished yet which implies that the anime will never be either..

Pancreatic cancer. :( That's the worst one she could have had. Most deadly of cancers because it earliest its usually detected is when the cancer is already at an advanced stage with no hope of therapies prolong life. May she rest in peace.

It's a shame she'll never get the chance to finish her life's work. I hope someone is able to finish it for her, if she left notes on how she wanted it completed (like Robert Jordan did for his work, The Wheel of Time). I really want to read this entire story (if it ever gets completely translated).

Guin Saga anime sums up the novel up to volume 16. I don't know if there is any plan to animate the rest of the volumes.

That

Plus I wonder what Amano, Yoshitaka is going to do about it. Even though he didn't write it.

Too sad really, I was quite depressed when I read that this morning, even if I didn't read her novels for now. I hope I will be able to one day (either when I speak Japanese or if it is translated in French/English). Seems like a great author has parted.

Since this was her life's work, hopefully she left notes on how she wanted to end the series. I hope the work is left in good hands.

again, one of my favourite authors dies:

Sunao Yoshida (Trinity Blood)
Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time)
Kaoru Kurimoto (Guin Saga)

She is still way too young....

Wow, 2,000 pages per month. So, 2,000 pages / 30 days = 67 pages per day, so 67 pages / 8 hours of work = 8 pages per hour.

*** WOW! Assuming she wrote everyday for 8 hours, according to the numbers, she wrote 8 pages per hour, and about 67 per day.

***It's such a shame.... she died before finishing the story....... the ANIME is super AWESOME, and if the novel had all been translated to English, HELL YEAH I would read the whole thing!!!! **The anime only will cover 16 volumes of the 130 volumes !!!! .......... I hope in the anime, we at the very least get to see Guin's REAL FACE !!!!!!! Everyone agrees with me, right? We HAVE TO see Guin's real face in the anime!!!!

(P.S. if someone could find a link somewhere on the net showing Guin's real face, I would sooo forever appreciate it!!! I MUST see his real face!! Ty :P)

If I didn't come checking for the anime after dropping it for months, I would never have seen this reply. *laugh*

So, the anime concludes at Vol. 16 which means the ending of the anime is really nothing much compared to that of the novel.

Anyhow, Kurimoto..may you rest in peace!
