My God, Ai Yazawa's works. I've only seen Paradise Kiss and NANA but wow, her art is beautiful. |

Air Gear is a sight to behold every page. That guy has some serious talent. Even if the story gets pretty weird or cheesy, you can't help but keep reading just for the art. It's very dynamic and works for all the dramatic scenes and action. Very excellent as shounen manga. I also am a fan of Shin Mashiba's style. I got into Nightmare Inspector because of the art, and while it's not fantastic or flashy, it flows very well and is very beautifully elegant. Can't really find good examples since not many scanlations are available since it's licensing. Modified by Vyudali, 07-24-12, 7:05 PM |

Pandora Hearts and 07 Ghost has the most amazing art I have ever seen. "What has two arms, two legs, and is alive? Not your favorite character thats for sure!" |

Any manga by Oh! Great I seem to enjoy, mostly because things seem so detailed. |

From what I've read, for some reason I'm really attached to the art style in Uzumaki. |

IMO I think that Black Bird has lovely drawings, the hair of the characters is amazing and I just love how the characters' eyes look, so well detailed. |

Agreeing with those who have said Oh!Great work, especially Air Gear. His character designs are very detailed and appealing, and he's really good at showing action while still making it easy enough to follow. Since I'm kind of an idiot when it comes to following action scenes in manga and I can still follow those, that's definite talent. He also has a real talent in designing the pages - each panel flows into the next very easily, and every page looks very different. There's usually some kind of strong line (real or implied) that you can follow through the page, which I think is an awesome effect. Not saying that they're necessarily the best, but I also really love any of Clamp's works, especially those in a more shounen style like Tsubasa and xxxHolic. Can't say the same about following the action in these (I actually find their work to be some of the more difficult to follow in that regard), but when things are standing still, they look beautiful. Character designs are always lovely, and the scenery is usually incredibly detailed. On a different note, Inio Asano's work is beautiful in a more subdued way. While I see the other two on this list as manga-ka, Asano is an artist who happens to draw manga. He's a master of composition, and more than with most other artists, he uses the composition of the page as a storytelling device. You can look at the size, placement, movement, content, etc. of each panel and page and understand that it's this way specifically because he intended it to be that way, not just because some panels were less important or required less room to show things. In addition to the artistic and symbolic storytelling style he uses, his art is very subdued, realistic, simplistic if you will, but very appealing. He uses white space almost as much as he uses lines and tone, but to a very beautiful effect. Seriously, though I risk sounding like a pretentious art-snob here, he is a masterful artist and storyteller, and if you haven't read his work it's definitely worth checking out. |
