This episode sucks balls.

So, Finale: Time loop continues. AGAIN. No plot development, worst episode, so I give this 1/10. I hope Haruhi dies. Anyways, I won't be checking out the LN or next season, so I am glad. I don't care a shit about broadcast order. Plot was shit, so I don't care about art or soundtrack, which have been mediocre to say the least. The initial part was little promising, but it just fuzzed out. Perhaps they should have focused less on hyping this and more on putting a coherant plot. I would have written a better plot than this when I was 5 years old.

Seriously, the last 2 episodes were cut copy paste of the 12th episode. If you watched it in another order, good for you. But fuck this anime for giving different viewing orders. Since this order was one of the possible orders given, I will rate the anime for this order because they allowed this order to exist. (But I would have given it a 1 anyway because I hate the characters.)

I don't care if there is extra material. This sucks.

Fuck this shit. I am out.

Ohh, Suzumiya Part 6 was a nice ending for the season. I'm glad I watched it in broadcast order although some episodes in the middle felt like fillers and were kinda boring. It was also a mess to understand the story at times.

Wow, that was an amazing series. Really loved it. Felt really fun, entertaining, quirky, and random throughout! One of the three series that has ever made me laugh (along with OreGairu and Kaguya-sama).

A lot happened in this episode, and it happened in a way that I was really hoping for! Damn, that was a nice kiss back there, Kyon. Way to go. Him starting with saying that he has a thing for ponytails though, and then that kiss destroyed the enclosed space. That was some awesome animation.

I really love Kyon x Haruhi for some reason. They don't have the usual characteristics of a pair of leads that I want to see end up together, but they just really fit and I love them. It seems Haruhi remembers it as a dream but wore a ponytail anyway in the hopes that it might be real. So all along, Haruhi had feelings for Kyon.

Wow, I really need to watch the second season.

Amazing series. A masterpiece adaptation. I truly see why KyoAni is really worth its name and reputation.

Again, Haruhi and Kyon look so cute together here. Haruhi staying behind because Kyon was sleeping and putting her cardigan over him was really sweet too, and her embarrassed expression after he suddenly woke up was icing on the cake. She definitely likes Kyon.

Fun rewatch, enjoyed rewatching the first season as part of season 2's broadcast order!

I didn't save the world. That kiss only stunned Suzumiya long enough to disrupt her unconscious world-remaking process, since she has an also unconscious crush on Kyon.

Weird shit keeps happening after that and they would probably be a horrible couple.

so 6 years ago i watched the first season in broadcast order, and liked it but not enough to bother with the second season. fast forward to about a week ago, i finally watched the second season and really liked it, but there were so many references to the first that i couldn't understand. it bothered me enough, and the first season was short enough, that i decided to rewatch it in chronological order. best decision ever!

it is so hard to rate this series on a season by season basis, bc it kind of matters which order you watched it in. so based on both seasons as a whole (and having watching it chronologically) i think i'm going to bump it up to a 9/10. their commitment to continuity really astounds me (not sure how much of it is due to the LN but either way it was fun as a viewer). would really recommend rewatching in chronological order after the broadcast order :)

Just another episode of the endless eight for me. I have to say, I'm surprised by how interesting it's been so far. I've never considered how much the outcome of a situation could differ if it were to be repeated, so I've enjoyed spotting all the minor differences between episodes. I still feel the frustration that everyone else does, but the worst part is that all my gripes have perfectly logical answers. We all know what Kyon needs to do in order to break the cycle, but his inaction makes sense since he doesn't have the same understanding of his situation that we do. It makes sense why Yuki has only been an observer, since her conflict with Ryouko makes it extremely apparent that it's the only thing she can do.

However, while I appreciate all the interesting meta-humour and sci-fi concepts, I'm not entirely sure what this show is trying to say. The most obvious interpretation is that it's one big 'haha women amiritelol' joke, but the meticulous worldbuilding and consistency makes me feel like it was meant to mean more than that. I can enjoy something for the sole reason that it's enjoyable, but I hate that my intuition keeps telling me that I'm missing something.

I've been thinking for a while about how I can rate this season, but in the end I've decided not to. The episode I watched is so far from an ending that it hurts, so I think I'll just have to rate this series in its entirety by the time season 2 comes to an end. So far it's been a pretty solid 7, though I'm afraid the problems I have with the second season might bump it down to a 6.

Bruh, come on, wtf were those last three episodes? XD I feel cheated.

A slow burn and a lame ass ending? Nice. Kyon inner monologues were the shining point of this show by far. 6/10...

Actually nah, 5/10 for this crap. I'll still watch the 2nd season and the movie (which has a massive score, I'm intrigued)...

Oookay so for some reason I ended up watching the actual last episode, from a chronological point of view. And well, I'm glad I did since it did feel like a wholesome finale episode, at least when it comes to the few last scenes.

Now about the series itself... I'll definitely have to check out the chronologically order, not to rewatch it but at least to fully grasp the character development. Though no matter what it doesn't seem like there's been that much development anyway.
Haruhi especially, can be a well written and actually likable characters at times, but she started off as an abusive person and in the end she remains an abusive person. I spent half the episode watching her physically assaulting Mikuru. AND THE EPISODE MADE IT LOOK LIKE IT WAS FUNNY.
And that's one of the many issues I have with this show. I like it and I can more or less see what made it become such a classic when it first aired, but still, it's not THAT good.
But the weird order ruined so much of my experience I don't even feel like making a rant or something. How could the staff think making it air in a messed up order would be a good idea ?!

Well, now I have to watch the second season before watching the apparently best part of the series aka the movie... Wish me luck for when I'll have to go through the Endless Eight. I'll need it.

[Chronological order]

Well, that concludes the first season. Watching it chronologically doesn't give out a satisfying ending, lol.

Anyways, for the episode itself, it's kinda boring. I understand that they are stuck in the time loop and the episode is just a repeat of the previous, but they could at least had sped up the process. Hopefully, the next episode doesn't take up a full episode just for the MC to realizes what he has to do in order to satisfy Haruhi's desire.

Based on my guess, since Haruhi really adores the events listed on the paper (thus why the loophole is happening), my guess would be just to rip the paper and not do anything that is listed on that paper.

Edit: Also I forgot to mention, I really liked the ost during those black and white scene. The instrument (I think) is a Balinese traditional instrument.

[CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER]

Well so this concludes our first arc, the Melancholy one. Kind of good finish if you ask me, Kyon finally realizing just how much of an impact Haruhi has on this world. That kiss though, just like in those snow white stories. For those watching it in broadcast order, this must have been the last episode of the season, and judging by some of these posts seems like no one's satisfied. But yeah many of these are highly misleading too.

wow, what and ending :O
now the reference from episode 4 is completely understandable, and the whole series is really intriguing, though i still have problem with the pre-art festival episodes kind of change, or rather, how the calm out-of-order episodes have any significance except for being really nice slice of life episodes.
but that's what makes this series likeable actually, it didn't have the whole supernatural theme in your face but took it slowly. the broadcast order making perfect sense in that area, as i felt this season 1 story went go and back in time to show us that the supernatural themes wasn't the important stuff, but the melancholy arc being a more "side story" but an important one to understand some of the things. truly puzzle experience.
i might as say that the mindfuck enjoyment was close to how i was enjoying raxhphon.
one last and important thing to note is, the fact that the series kept all very simple and not too shady and bombast but kept even the mindfuck and :O moments in very calm and simple way, the animation and OST took care to make the experience be good as it was the entire series.
9/10
final note - when thinking about the events in 13-12-9 (probably the post-art festival episodes by chronological way) it seems that haruhi is starting to be more and more adaptable to the world, and it slowly happening from episode 4 (baseball episode) continuing with 6-9 probably happening after ep8 and then the festival arc starting, that would make perfect sense. but then again, there's just big difference in the stories between 4-6-9-8 episodes to 13-12-9, from what i understood in the timeline lies s2.

I know I'm quoting an old reply, but I also watched the anime that way & I too agree that the 13th & 14th episodes were really that bad. I made me very disappointed & overall very much dislike this anime for that reason. I was was like, "wow, they literally just repeated episode 12 in episode 13, but wait, they repeated episode 12 again for the second time? but why?" & then after Haruhi walks out of the cafe with nothing changed I was pretty much glad that it was the final episode, but it was very terrible.

(Endless Eight III)

Yet again, as far as I can remember, not a single re-used shot from EITHER of the two previous endless eight episodes. If they actually keep this up for all eight of them, colour me absolutely impressed.

So for those who are skipping the endless eight arc, it seems this one is easily interchangeable with the 2nd one. We know that watching the first and last are a MUST, and that you should probably also watch at least one of the other ones. Whether it be the 2nd, or this one, the 3rd, they're pretty much the same. Perhaps you could even watch the 4th and beyond and that would still work.

While again I am impressed that each episode so far has not recycled any animation, I do hope that going through all these is not ENTIRELY pointless. I would like each episode to subtly build on the last, that despite their memories also being reset, that we as the audience or maybe even somehow Kyon himself can eventually deduce what it is Haruhi would like to achieve- thus breaking the cycle supposedly. I hope that the intentions of making us watch this eight times would be for us to slowly but surely gather enough subtle clues in order to make a well enough educated guess by the end to see what it is Haruhi wants. Maybe it's as simple as a kiss or a hug, specifically, a hug from behind while getting whispered "I love you" in her ear.... dang imagine if that were the case. The answer would've been dangling in front of Kyon's face this entire time.

Also, man I feel sorry for Nagato. Experiencing the same loop over 15,000 times, the same two weeks for well over 500 years. She's got nerves of steel. Imagine there being a massive plot twist, and that ALL the events of this series are ALSO in a time loop, and that she's been watching these same events for like MILLIONS of years. Yeah this show is wack enough at it is, it probably doesn't need to go that far.

Anyway, by watching chronologically, I've technically finished season 1 of Haruhi Suzumiya. Everything from here on out is pretty much the same, after finishing the endless eight, is the five-part arc which is "The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya", where it ends with the 5th part with the broadcast order. Again, I'm going chronologically, so the episodes "Someday in the Rain", "The Day of Sagittarius", "Live Alive", and what was broadcasted as the very first episode, "The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina", all episodes that were broadcast here in the first season, chronologically happen last, and will all take place AFTER "The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya"

I will not rate this series yet, I'll treat S1 and S2 as one and the same and rate them both equally once I finish them all. Now, onto "season 2".

It says

Aired: Apr 3, 2006 to Jul 3, 2006

So episode 14 in this context I believe should be either 'Someday in the Rain' or 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Part Six' instead of 'Endless Eight III'?

I'm glad I'm re-watching this on the broadcast order, it makes everything much better and it adds to the climax of the 1st season, with the end of the Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu VI. Pretty damn good series, props for being such a creative slice of life. I just love Haruhi and Kyon, both are probably among my favourite characters ever.

What an episode to end on... That was awesome! We now know what incident future Mikuru was talking about, and the final pieces have fallen into place here (or most of them lol there's still another season of course), and man that was cool

We got to see the start of a new world as Haruhi has grown tired of the one she was in, and is so close to basically resetting everything, but is pulled back in at the last second. What a ride dude... Now if only these forums weren't totally screwed up lol

Watching the same episode multiple times just for climax to the problem to be a solution as stupid as this show's solution was is an absolute waste of time. The show should have ended at episode 6.
