Edited: "Oda directs the film" was misleading. He is the executive producer of the movie.
According to Weekly Shounen Jump published on May 11th, the executive producer of the new movie "One Piece Film Strong World" was announced to be the manga author Oda Eiichiro. Oda is also in charge of the scenario and the character designs. Production staff of an anime movie is usually organized independently of the manga author.

Oda said he would like to show the audiences a totally different film from the previous ones. He has discussed with all the staff involved and already drawn more than 120 illustrations for the character settings. The movie will be premiered on December 12th.

That's great news. At least it won't be half as bad as the other movies since the author himself is the one directing.

Interesting to hear. Hopefully there will be a boost in the movie's quality compared to the old ones.

Great news! The movie already looked interesting but now it's going to be even better. If only more was known about the plot instead of assumptions based on the trailer~

PS Oda is a genius but drawing manga and directing a film is a little bit different things, so I hope he won't mess up. at least the scenario and character design will be great.

This is gonna be the most awesome One Piece movie since Dead End Adventure....hopefully. Creative imput from the author is always a good sign, so I expect it to deliver.

Well it's definetly going to have the "one piece feel" now. I wonder if this movie might actually be linked to the manga now (seen as he's now involved) or if it's like an alternate story.

Either way it's probably gonna be good.

Even so, no new news, as he did anounce his direction in the movie a long time ago.

But I will watch it anyway, as the trailer was so exciting.^^
