Gundam 00 Dissatisfies The Character Designer - Forums

A guide book of Gundam 00 "Mobile Suit Gundam 00 MISSION COMPLETE 2307-2312" released on May 8th. The book had interviews with the production staff. Among the positive comments of other staff, Chiba Michinori (the character designer and the episode art director) made negative remarks.

Q. How do you feel now having the series ended?
Chiba: We got a suspended sentence, so nothing to say about it.
Annotation: Suspended sentence implies the movie of Gundam 00.

Q. How do you think about your performance for Gundam 00?
Chiba: It was a tough job to work on HD format. The quality control was outside my province, but I concerned about the finish. I hope the audiences were pleased with the anime, yet.
Annotation: Finish here means the finishing of each episode, not the finale of the series.

Q. Summing up the all the seires, how do you feel about Gundam?
Chiba: I have mixed feelings about it...

Q. Any comments to the audiences and the readers?
Chiba: I expect you to discern what I mean. Our struggle has begun.

crazy_eights Offline Joined: Nov 2007 Posts: 1834	there was definetely alot of poor artwork in this series when it came to characters. so qc sucked up big time, i would be disappointed if im part of a team and the performed worse the second part of the series.

I don't really the characters but the new Gundam designs are okay, yet most of the mobile suits don't look too good. I mean.. The ones the Gundam Meisters pilot are awesome but everything else is just so... Its not as good of a job done as the UC mobile suits. Perhaps, the UC era mobile suits are the ultimate masterpiece of the mecha designers.

Have to not agreed with your opinion, MS Design on 00 is great, not great as Zeta But still i love the design for Gadessa n GNX, n Masurao too.

In my opinion, the MS designs in Turn A were the best, but that would be a slap in the face to a lot of fans, because, apparently, they were made "ugly" on purpose. Also, the Gundam designs were terrible, or at least in S2. At least they didn't overdo it, like they did in SEED, though, with LOLBACKPACKSFUCKINGEVERYWHERE.
