THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
It appears that one of the requirements for being chosen was to have the capability to be a murderous psychopath.

It also looks as if Saki's friend won't be missing her much longer, although it is likely that he will end up "missing" something else in a way that is much more painful than just having a broken heart.

Definitely not something you can watch raw and the subs are now out!

Well, episode was good. We got a sneak peek at #1, as well as some crazed psychopathic murdering bitch. I didn't catch a glimpse as to what her number was, perhaps it was there and I missed it. Other than that, we really got to see just to what extent and power Juiz has, such as changing the PM's speech into a single word. A ridiculous word, at that.

Another big thing this episode is the revelation that Akira didn't kill the NEETs, but instead sent them to Dubai for whatever reason. Apparently, this has rehabilitated them to some extent. Saving Japan by changing NEETs into useful members of society, I wonder? Meanwhile, we have Saki off at her interview who I can't help but feel bad for. Though she brought in on herself, it is a bit of a shame considering her apparent luck with interviews. Spilling the gyuudon on her was far from necessary as well, I can kind of relate to Saki, but not that extent. It's also become glaringly apparent(as if it wasn't last week) that the object of her affection is Ryousuke.

This of course however, brings us to Ohsugi, a man with no semblance of luck. As much as I admittedly liked the scene between Akira and Saki on the boardwalk, I feel terrible for that guy. It also looks like he's going to be picked up by aforementioned psychopathic lady killer after a night of binge drinking while on a 'date' with one of his male kouhai. Ohohoho, he's got standards.

Hope I'm not the only one who thinks that business-Saki looks rather cute.

More or less an interesting episode, got a look at two other Selacio and some very small clues about the missile attacks. The interaction between Saki and Akira was very nice, and hopefully next week we'll finally see how she is going to tie into all of this.

Oh, and that dude is totally screwed. ;D

Another great episode! The humorous touches at the beginning after getting explanation in the previous episode were nice, and I loved the boardwalk scene. I may love Akira and Saki together, but I still feel bad for poor Ohsugi! :(

Yet again dying for next week to come! So many mysteries left to us still, and I'm really curious as to what impact Saki will have on Akira when the big climax of the series comes.

Business attire Saki is pretty cute. I do feel bad for that Ohsugi guy that is probably gonna end up dead. Although, Akira is just so smooth/fluent with how he deals with Saki. He just swoops in, lays a kiss on her, and just busts out with his speech. I am also glad Akira didn't kill the NEETs. If anyone else has noticed in the ending theme, Akira does like a "bang" gesture with his hand targetting missiles. Maybe he'll use his power to shoot down the missiles? Possibly number 1 is responsible for those missiles? All assumptions on my part, because I don't read manga.

Poor Ohsugi is going to lose his manhood and a bit more D:

Interesting episode anyways, i loved the kiss scene, the way Akira and Saki interact is great. The fact that Akira didn't kill the NEET's was interesting, maybe we'll find out a little more that and Akira former self in the next episode.

Ehh, this was just an ok episode. We saw a new Selecao and got info on what happened to the NEETs, but really, nothing terribly interesting. Saki's interview was way too stretched out. Unless something was really poignant that I missed, it could have been done in half the time with the same effect.

Kiss scene was random and meh. Rest of episode was good without being great. Its good to see they are introducing new Selecao people. I wonder why the newly introduced female Selecao slut, says "I wonder what #1 is going to do now that #9 is back", is #1 the supporter?

It'll be sad if Ohsugi shares the same fate as that guy at the start of the episode =8 and even worse if he is used as some sort of henchmen to take Takizawa down just to get revenge on Saki >>.

Well, the first thing I noticed was that the animation was back up to par and the episode was pretty good overall.

The next thing I noticed was the subtlety of the text in the OP. I hadn't watched it since finishing episode 4 and didn't really like all the preemptive theorizing before we actually learned if it was totally relevant to the story... but now, after having a chance to look at it in context, it is pretty interesting.

It's also interesting if you go back and look at the text from the monologue to start the first episode.

"He reluctantly became the prince.
At the very least, it was because he realized...
...that for tomorrow to come, someone had to sacrifice himself by becoming the "prince."
That's why he became the prince, even though he didn't want to."

Anyways, in reference to the OP, if you want to interpret it more literally, I wonder who the king is. I don't think it's Akira since I think he has been established as the prince. I guess it might be Mr. Outside. It would make sense since with this episode, Akira stepped into the role of the Prince and decided he needed to push forward his agenda as a selecao. Though, if Akira is indeed the Prince, it makes you wonder who the supporter is if the supporter isn't Akira. It seems as though the supporter is the right hand man of Mr. Outside. Also, it makes you wonder what the fallen angel referenced in the OP is. It could just be a broader, symbolic term for the problems in Japan's society or it could be a reference to a specific individual (perhaps a rebellious selecao).

Another guess would be that the king is a leader selecao (maybe selecao #1) that akira comes to aid and eventually succeed (seeing as how Akira is the prince, maybe Saki is the princess? She seems to embody a lot of what's wrong with Japanese youth in the anime). Then the fallen angel could be the supporter or another, corrupted selecao who rebels against the game.

To be honest, there seems to be more up with Akira than we've been given. From what we know, it would appear that he hasn't gotten a great grasp on his memories yet but it really seems as if he has remembered much more than we've been told. He had that little bit about Johnny in this episode and we only know that name as a reference to Akira's penis and a name he called out in a hallucination he had in episode 4. Telling from this episode, he seems to remember more about him than we know. Perhaps Johnny is a selecao that Akira had a close relationship with? It seems like the expenses that Akira has logged thus far would exceed the 1billion+ that was taken off his phone (an entire shopping mall complete with everything in it, the resources to gather 20,000 NEETs and ship them to Dubai). Maybe he was working together with someone else?

The expenses seen on IV's phone are as follows:

- 2/14/11: Exiting the monorail (470 Yen)
- 2/14/11: Boarding the monorail (130 Yen)
- 2/14/11: A pack of plum-flavor gum at Tokyo Int. Airport (120 Yen)
- 2/14/11: All expenses paid golfing trip for a member of the Immigration Bureau - Airport escape (100,000 Yen)
- 2/12/11: Memory wipe program download from ATO Harima Neuroscience (900 Yen)
- 12/11/10: Movie theater (80,000,000 Yen)
- 12/10/10: Convenience store meal delivery for 20k people for 2 weeks (136,000,000 Yen)
- 12/10/10: Purchase of an urban shopping mall (910,000,000 Yen)

No mention of the transferring fee for those 20,000 NEETs to Dubai.

And, I don't think Ohsugi is a dead man yet but the possibility is there... though I wouldn't be happy if he did die unless they did a lot more with him before his death.

Good episode, wonder what Akira's plan is now. Looks like those NEETs weren't really killed but got sent off and now lead a somewhat better life? Who knows.

Sucks for Ohsugi though, that won't end well.

This series is just brilliant, i have loved every moment of it so far. This episode was slower but it introduced us to some of the new chosen ones and obviously now the guy who likes saki is going to have some bigger involvement. I guess i don't have too much to say about this episode, just can't wait to see more!

also i gotta give credit to the attention in detail in this series. Everything in the environments and such is so detailed and it looks great. The animation is amazing and some of the small things they do is impressive.

She always looks cute, no matter what she wears.

Even though I love the Akira + Saki pairing, the kiss was sort of disappointing. First half of the episode was boring, second half was better.

Saki said she "loved Ryouski so much" - who is that again? He's not on the character list and I can't remember.

Good episode I guess, but the kiss could have been better. I wish it hadn't happened at all if it was going to be that anticlimactic.

Ryosuke is her brother-in-law.

I guess Saki's sister didn't hear or take it to heart when said, "You'd say it now, but that kindness really hurts." I'm glad this episode answered a few questions, but I guess I'd like to see a bit more of who's in Saki's social circle, even if they don't contribute to the flow of the story. But just to get a better understanding of who's who.

Seems like Akira refers to Johnny often though.

This episode was kinda slow, and nothing really happened. But we got some character development for Saki (cute in that suit btw) and some hints on what Akira is planning, so it was still interesting. Saki crying was pretty touching too.

If Ohsugi dies I don't think many will care about it. His character hasn't been developed enough for his death to matter.

Suprisingly, I really liked this episode. I love seeing how Saki and Akira's relationship changes and grows. And I am deeply curious about why he sent the NEETs to Dubai.

The kiss! It was awesome! I don't care if he did it just to make her feel better, it was still wicked!

This series is by far one of the better ones out right now. Maybe the best, for me.

Great episode, as seems usual for this series. There wasn't quite as much info this time, but we got some character development for Saki, as well as new Selecao (and confirmation that Akira didn't kill the NEETs). I also really loved the boardwalk scene, though not so much for the kiss (which felt like cold comfort to me -- though that too is appropriate) as for Akira's expressions -- sort of dispassionate, detached from what Saki was saying. There have been few times in anime where, just watching a character's face, I wanted so much to know what was going on inside his head. He obviously has formulated a plan, but what? This is probably the first series I've watched that immediately makes me want to go back through the episode once I'm done to study scenes in further detail.

Also interesting to me that the name "Selecao" is out among the government, as evidenced by the TV clip Akira watched. I wonder if the place the Selecao with the ring was at was the same base where the missiles came from ...
